This Week on TV – 7/20/08-7/26/08

Welcome to a new week of TV! Things have finally calmed down at my house and I’ve been enjoying tv the last couple of weeks more than I have all summer. How can I not, with shows like Burn Notice, The Closer and finally Monk & Psych?? So with another week down, we’re one week closer to the new Fall season, woohoo! Saw my first preview for Christian Slater’s My Own Worst Enemy and I have to say, he’s still freakin hot. 😀 So let’s see what’s on this week to enjoy as well, shall we? Jump with me to see this week’s schedule!

Sunday is the series premiere of High School Musical: Get in the Picture on ABC at 8/7c. This show will award one prize winner the chance of a lifetime — he or she will literally “get in the picture” when that person stars in a music video shown in the end credits of the feature film, Disney’s High School Musical 3: Senior Year, opening this fall. In addition, the winner will also receive an exclusive talent hold agreement with ABC and a recording contract for two singles with Walt Disney Records, one of which will be a version of the song from the music video. It is hosted by Nick Lachey.

Monday is the series premiere of Date My Ex. I highlighted this during the preview special a few weeks ago but in case you missed it: This is a new reality dating series starring Jo De La Rosa and Slade Smiley, who appeared in the first two seasons of Bravo’s hit docu-series “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” The series will follow De La Rosa as she looks for love in Los Angeles, where she has moved to pursue a singing career. But as De La Rosa’s suitors will find out, you don’t get Jo without her ex-fiance, Slade.

It’s also the series premiere of Take Home Nanny on TLC at 8/7c. In each episode child-care expert Emma Jenner visits a family not only struggling with uncontrollable kids, but also facing preparations for a special event. Can Nanny Jenner manage the unruly children, at-wits-end parents and turn the family around to have a successful event, and lasting household harmony?

Finally, it’s the series premiere of Wanna Bet on ABC at 9/8c. Celebrities have the chance to earn big money for the charity of their choice by betting on the success or failure of the wildest stunts, tricks and mental challenges that ordinary Americans housewives, truck drivers, dentists, kids can dream up and perform in front of a studio audience. The thing I remember most from the previews I’ve seen in this little girl, probably around my son’s age, on skates, in splits, doing the limbo like I used to watch at the skating rink growing up. She was just as flat to the floor with her stomach and chest that you can imagine. Crazy! Should be another fun show, in such that if you like Wipeout, you’ll probably enjoy this.

Also, don’t miss the season finales of 10 Years Younger on TLC at a special time of 2/1c, and Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods on MTV & Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal on A&E, both at 10/9c.
