This Week on TV – 9/7/08-9/13/08

Welcome to a new week of TV! The Fall season has officially begun! What did you think of the premieres last week? Which was your favorite? Least favorite? Leave me a comment & let me know! Personally, I LOVED Prison Break. *sigh* πŸ™‚ Jump with me to see this week’s schedule!

Sunday is the season finale of Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel at 9/8c and the season premiere of Entourage on HBO at 10/9c.

Tonight is also the series premiere of 3 shows. First up is Hole in the Wall on FOX at 8/7c, the game show with hosts Mark Thompson and Brooke Burns. As one of the fastest, funniest and wettest shows on the planet, speed, agility and a hearty sense of humor are essential tools to survive facing the Hole. Two teams of three will compete against each other in multiple rounds of play, facing various barrier walls with weird and wacky cut-out shapes speeding toward them. Each team must contort their bodies either individually or in unison to fit through the wall or be swept away into a pool below. The winning team will win $25,000 and the chance to compete against the dreaded “Blind Wall” for an additional $100,000.

The next premiere is True Blood on HBO at 9/8c. Thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out. Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. “Cursed” with the ability to listen in on people’s thoughts, she’s also open-minded about the integration of vampires β€” particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill’s arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.

Finally, it’s the series premiere of Sandhogs on the History Channel at 10/9c. Having built nearly every tunnel and underground project in New York City, Sandhogs have been an instrumental part of the development of the city. This new “American Original” explores the history of a world rarely seen, but one that is integral to the lifeblood of America’s largest city.

When an international flight lands at Boston’s Logan Airport with no signs of life, an unlikely trio FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham; brilliant but formerly institutionalized scientist Walter Bishop; and his scheming, reluctant son Peter uncovers a deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events and realizes they may be a part of a larger, more disturbing pattern

Also tonight is the series premiere of Privileged on the CW at 9/8c. Megan Smith (JoAnna Garcia, Reba), a smart and quirky young assistant at a glossy magazine, is fired when her Yale education proves detrimental to getting ahead in the world of tabloid journalism. Her boss (guest star Debi Mazar, Entourage) takes pity on her and arranges an interview with Laurel Limoges (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction), the elegant and wealthy head of a cosmetics empire based in Palm Beach. Laurel offers Megan a job as a live-in tutor for her twin teen granddaughters, Rose (Lucy Hale, Bionic Woman) and Sage (Ashley Newbrough, The Best Years). The beautiful and rebellious twins are less-than-thrilled with their new tutor, but Megan is determined to win them over as she enjoys the perks of her new job – breathtaking private suite, gorgeous car and live-in chef (Allan Louis, Stomp the Yard). Even the neighbors are fabulous in Palm Beach, and Megan quickly catches the eye of Will Davis (Brian Hallisay, Bones), the wealthy and extremely hot dilettante who lives on the estate next door. Hoping to upset Megan, Sage encourages invites Megan’s estranged sister Lily (Kristina Apgar, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) to Laurel’s fund-raising event, where one of the waiters is Megan’s best friend Charlie (Michael Cassidy, Smallville), who has been secretly in love with her for a long time.

Thursday is the series premiere of Top Pop Group on MTV at 10/9c. A good pop song makes you want to grab your friends and run out on the dance floor to let loose. A good pop song makes you crank up the volume and roll down the car windows while you sing your heart out on the way home. A good pop group makes you jump up and down and high-five your friends when you score tickets to the once-in-a-lifetime concert that’s coming to your town. And that same good pop group makes you want to sing along to every song at the show you waited all summer to see. If pop music is the soundtrack to your life, then you must be dying to know who will be named MTV’s Top Pop Group! Year after year, supergroups like *NSync, the Backstreet Boys, the Pussycat Dolls, Danity Kane and the Jonas Brothers carve their place in pop music history. They sing. They dance. They entertain.
