This Week on TV – 9/28/08-10/4/08

Welcome to a new week of TV! There are a ton of series & season premieres this week. A few season finales as well. But whatever they are, there is GOBS of tv on. So if you don’t find something you like, you don’t know what you are missing! So let’s see what’s going to keep us entertained this week, shall we? Jump with me to see this week’s schedule!

Sunday is the series premiere of Little Britain on HBO at 10:30/9:30c. “Little Britain USA is an American spinoff of the successful British BBC television series Little Britain. As in the British series, the show will focus on characters played by Matt Lucas and David Walliams and will feature many established characters such as Daffyd Thomas, Sebastian Love, Marjorie Dawes and Vicky Pollard but also includes new characters.” (Thanks to for the show info, cause I couldn’t find anything about it! HBO was NO help. lol)

Following that is the series premiere of The Life & Times of Tim also on HBO at 11/10c. The comedy stars Bob Morrow, Cheri Oteri, Kurtwood Smith, Matt Johnson, MJ Otto, Nick Kroll & Steve Dildarian. Everybody makes mistakes, but for Tim – a self-conscious young guy living in New York – just getting out of bed in the morning could be the worst decision he makes all day. No matter the situation, life’s little challenges always manage to demand the most offensive solutions, which wouldn’t be such a problem if he weren’t continually caught red-handed. From the mind of Steve Dildarian – the Clio-winning ad man behind Budweiser’s famous ‘Lizards’ campaign – The Life and Times of Tim follows this everyday working guy from one scandalous crisis to the next.

Tonight is the season premiere of 12 shows, including the comedies on FOX, Dexter & Californication on Showtime at 9/8c & 10/9c, Desperate Housewives on ABC at 9/8c, The Amazing Race on CBS at 8/7c & more.

Rolling with Paris’ inner circle is a pleasure normally reserved for A-list celebrity friends like Nicole Richie and Britney Spears, but Paris has decided that she wants a new BFF — and Paris Hilton always gets what she wants. With the celebutante at the helm, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF is sure to be a reality show unlike any other. In it, Paris wields ultimate power. Her whim becomes law with a simple text message to her 18 potential new BFFs, and heaven help them if it’s a frowny face. From her secluded VIP control room, Paris keeps a close eye on the contestants while making all the catty comments she wants. And if the wannabe BFFs aren’t keeping her entertained, a simple “I’m bored” sent via text will whip everyone into a frenzy. It follows the adventures of the beautiful, enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus (Tapping), a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population — a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that hide among humans.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9:30/8:30c. In the signature style of Lucasfilm Animation, it chronicles the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano and other favorite STAR WARS characters as they struggle against the dark side during the divisive, action-packed Clone Wars. Each week, a new story in the galaxy-changing Clone Wars comes to center stage, brought to the screen by supervising director Dave Filoni and executive producer George Lucas. Dwindling numbers of Jedi fight to maintain freedom and restore peace to the galaxy, using their army of genetically engineered clones against the seemingly never-ending droid army. The terrible conflict grows wider as our heroes are swept into the turmoil of war, while the evil Count Dooku, his assassin Asajj Ventress, their master Darth Sidious, the mechanical General Grievous and a rogue’s gallery of never-before-seen villains scheme to defeat them.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of The Ex List on CBS at 9/8c. It is about Bella Bloom – a single, 30-something, successful business owner who is surprised to learn from a psychic that she’s already dated her future husband AND there’s a catch: if she doesn’t find him in the next year, she’ll remain alone forever. During a bachelorette party for her sister, Daphne, Bella learns from the psychic she must revisit her past relationships and sort through the mistakes to find her soul mate. Skeptical, Bella begins to analyze every past liaison and failed romance with her close circle of friends, Augie, an endearing guy who has listened to Bella’s love woes since college, Vivian, Augie’s long-term girlfriend, and Cyrus, who’s chronically unemployed and full of wry observations. Once Bella witnesses proof of the psychic’s other predictions, her cynicism disappears and she begins her search. Along her trip down break-up lane, Bella is determined to remain optimistic and receptive, believing that when destiny reopens doors to the past, every relationship can matter in the future. The show stars Elizabeth Reaser, Adam Rothenberg, Alexandra Breckenridge, Amir Talai & Rachel Boston.

  1. Cyndy says:

It’s sad when even the DVR can’t help me with watching everything I want to this week, three separate days where three (or more!) shows I want to see are all on at the same time. I could cry.

  2. Jenny says:

Believe me, I feel your pain. lol Last season was horrendous for me. I had 6 shows at once on one day, 5 another. This season, I’ve cut out several shows. Not watching Kitchen Nightmares, not watching Dancing with the Stars (cause while I love the pros, I couldn’t care less about any of the celebs this season) and there are quite a few freshman series that I’m not watching that I thought I might (Priviledged, 90210, Opportunity Knocks, etc). So… This week anyway, my busiest night is Wednesday. I have 4 @ 7 & 7:30, 4 @ 8, 3 @ 8:30 & 2 @ 9. Oi. 🙂

  3. Samantha says:

im not doing that bad yet i only have 13 that got on this week. i tried to cut down as well haha. i wanted to see 90210 also. but i think im just gonna start watching it online. im so glad one tree hill’s on and i didnt have 2 wait till the middle of the year for once. now it makes mondays not as bad.

I’m not sure if this is only in Canada, but I saw an ad today that said Criminal Minds will air on tuesday instead of wednesday this week. It could be another presidential statement airing, I dont know exactly, but its something to look out for.
