TV News – 6/3/09

For those who haven’t heard, Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton are officially off One Tree Hill, which leaves all Leyton Fans oh so sad… myself included. I’ve rounded up some of the articles/interviews from the last few weeks for you. I hope that answers your questions. 🙂 Interview with Hilarie Burton | Article here: Ausiello

Now onto other news, Fox has cancelled a few fan favourites, including Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Prison Break, King of the Hill and then new comer, Sit Down, Shut Up. I personally think that they should have kept The Sarah Connor Chronicles and dropped Dollhouse, but I’m only siding with the majority on this one.

Good news is that this season’s breakout hit, Fringe, has been renewed, along with the intriguing new drama, Lie To Me.

As far as new shows go, Fox is launching two new dramas, four new comedies and a new late-night show. The new comedy, Glee, which had a great showing in its pilot episode, will hit the ground running in the fall, as will the comedies, Brothers, and The Cleveland Show. With the success of Family Guy, I am sure that The Cleveland Show will take off. After all, Cleveland is hilarious.

As far as the dramas go, they will be premiering midseason. Human Target and Past Life will join the comedy, Sons of Tucson, in a January start date.

Alright, so that’s the recap of what’s axed, what’s staying and what’s new after the up fronts. Let’s check out some updates on other things… like HBO’s summer season.

True Blood Season 2 premieres June 14th on HBO. I’m looking forward to the new season and all the craziness that comes with it. Here’s a sneak peek to get you ready for the new season:

John Lithgow has been added to the cast of Dexter as a serial killer for the show’s fourth season. I personally think Lithgow will be brilliantly creepy in the role. Season four premieres Sept 27th. Article courtesy of Ausiello.

New show, Hung, premieres on HBO on June 28th. Yes, from the title you can guess exactly what this show will be about. Man is lonely, broke and depressed, decides to make money marketing the one thing he’s got… no comment. Read about it: The Futon Critic
