Woo-hoo, it’s Friday!!! Again it’s a slow news day, but I have found a few things including a story on Charisma Carpenter, some news from Comic-Con, and of course my recap and reactions to last night’s SYTYCD results show. Everyone ready? Here we go.
Just when we thought Legend of the Seeker couldn’t get any better, news has been released that Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) will be guest staring in the season premiere of the show. The news was announced at Comic-Con that Carpenter will make an appearance as Triana, a leather wearing Mord’Sith warrior woman who inflicts pain. Unfortunately, Charisma’s sexy, leather wearing Mord’Sith is only confirmed for the season premiere, which airs the weekend of November 7th. I love this news! Who doesn’t love Charisma? Whether we were aggravated by her bitchy girl antics on Buffy, or amazed at her new found true character on Angel, she’s awesome! I think she’ll do great, what are your thoughts? Source
More after the Jump.
E!Online has a decent interview with some of the cast from Burn Notice at Comic-Con, and it’s worth a read. I think Bruce Campbell, (Sam Axe) is hilarious, and loves his fans. There aren’t any big spoilers, if any, and the interview is a little informal because it’s a panel, but it was great none the less. Enjoy!
The official season 3 poster for Chuck is awesome and is popping up all over the place from fellow TV bloggers from Comic-Con so here it is for you guys to admire and love. I really enjoy Chuck, it’s a very original and fantastic show! 🙂
Veronica Mars!! Okay well, Kristen Bell 🙂 but equally as awesome! Ausiello is once again my hero with his video from Comic-Con of his interview with Kristen Bell and Freddie Highmore. I loved it. Watch, admire, love all that is Bell. Not to mention Freddie Highmore is adorable in this interview, such a well spoken young man. Click the link and watch the great interview here!
That’s it for the news now onto the recap of last night’s, So You Think You Can Dance’s 100th Episode.
The opening group number was One from A Chorus Line, choreographed by Mia Michaels, and it was fabulous! My only complaint is that the camera keeps doing close ups so we lose the total effect of the whole routine! I would love it if the camera men would treat us as a live audience sometimes and shoot the whole stage so we can decide who to focus on. Other than that it was great.
Okay, the much talked about Katie Holmes appearance was last night and it was… okay. I understand it was an homage to Judy Garland’s Get Happy from Summer Stock, but it wasn’t that great. The lip syncing was distracting although her voice was pretty decent, and above all else she looked amazing last night, she really did. It was also unfortunate that it wasn’t live, I know she was out of the country filming at the time of last night’s show, but still would have been nice to see it live. The only thing we all have to remember is that it was for a great cause, and that many would appear mediocre when placed next to some of the amazing talent that graced the stage before her video clip 😉
The performances of some of the Emmy nominated routines from past season was great. I really enjoyed seeing The Bench routine, choreographed by Mia Michaels and danced by Travis and Heidi again. It was beautiful as usual, although it didn’t have the effect it had the first time around.
My only thought was that I would have like to see a few other routines danced instead of the ones chosen, like the Bleeding Love routine from last season, danced by Mark and Chelsie. Or perhaps the routine with the door, danced by Twitch and Katee, also from last season.
On to the results, the bottom two girls were Kayla and Janette, which shocked a lot of people. Most thought that Janette, who has never been in the bottom, should have been safe. I wasn’t too upset. I have never found Janette that compelling. She’s very talented, but I’ve always found it hard to connect to her.
Kayla is also a very technically beautiful dancer, but one that I haven’t found to be that consistent over the entire season.
I would have liked Kayla to go home, but frankly either one would have been fine, so I wasn’t too upset when Janette went home. Yes, I know many of you are really upset with these results but remember she’ll be on tour with the rest of them, and this isn’t America’s best dancer, it’s supposed to be America’s favorite dancer. So long Miami.
Moving on to the boys. The bottom two guys last night were Jason, and Brandon, again shocking to some.
Jason has not been very good most the season, and only started to bring it the last two weeks, so I have no real stress with him in the bottom. He’s a brilliant dancer, but not as fantastic as some of the others. I also find him emotionally closed off, except for his contemporary routine with Jeanine last week.
Brandon is technically, probably the best male dancer on the show at the moment, but I have never liked him. I find his dancing lacks something, I don’t know what, but I just don’t find myself drawn to him. I didn’t however think it was his week to go, so it’s good that he didn’t. So farewell Jason, see you on tour!
That’s it for now, check out my weekly review tomorrow, and I’ll be back on Monday with the news 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!
