TV News – 9/30/09

Wednesday, and what a day it is! I’ve got a bit of news, and later tonight I’ll have the review of Hell’s Kitchen up. Let’s get started.

Comedian Kathy Najimy (Veronica’s Closet, Numbers) is going to be guest starring on Desperate Housewives as a police officer who went to school with Susan. When Susan goes to the police for help, she finds Najimy’s character who has been holding a grudge against Susan since high school for stealing her boyfriend. Najimy is hilarious and I think this will be a great storyline, and I’m looking forward to it, what about you? Source

More after the jump.

NBC and Dreamworks are teaming up to air two new family holiday specials based on some great films. The first special is called, Monsters vs Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space and will air on Wednesday, October 28th. It will feature some of the great original voices of Seth Rogen (Knocked Up), Reese Witherspoon (Rendition), and Hugh Laurie (House). The second special is going to be Merry Madagascar and will air on Tuesday, November 17th and it too will feature voices from the originals including Jada Pinkett Smith (HawthoRNe) and Chris Rock (Everybody Hates Chris). This sounds like great fun, and I always enjoy another family special on TV during the holidays. Source

The Criminal Minds spinoff may finally come into existence later this season, and will be similar to the CSI and NCIS spinoffs with a new group of characters. I’m happy about the spinoff as long as it doesn’t mess with the cast we’ve got on Criminal Minds now. I do really enjoy writer/executive Chris Mundy’s writing and I’m sure it’ll be a great addition to the franchise.

It seems that Seth Green and some of the other genius creators behind, Robot Chicken, are working on an animated series for FOX. The series will be more like FOX’s other animated cartoons and less like the stop-motion animation of Robot Chicken, but that doesn’t matter in my opinion. I think that Green is a superb comedian and I have loved him since his days as Oz on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I’m game for the show, what about you? Source

That’s all for tonight, hope everyone’s weeks are going well. I’ll try to get the Hell’s Kitchen review up as soon as possible 🙂
