This Week on TV – 9/15/09-9/21/09

Welcome to a new week of TV! Lots of great stuff on this week, including a few new series that I’m really looking forward to. You? Enjoy! Jump with me to view this week’s schedule!

Sunday

Sunday is the series premiere of WWII in HD on the History Channel at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10/9c. This is the story of the war viewed through the eyes of 12 Americans who fought in or contributed to the war effort. With original, color footage, never before seen by most Americans, the 10-hour series is narrated by Emmy Award winner Gary Sinise (CSI: NY). It stars Amy Smart (Felicity, Smith), James Kyson Lee (Heroes), Jason Ritter (Joan of Arcadia, The Class), Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama, American Psycho), Justin Bartha (National Treasure 1 & 2, Teachers), LL Cool J (NCIS: LA), Mark Hefti (An American Vampire in America), Rob Corddry (The Winning Season, The Winner), Rob Lowe (Brothers & Sisters), Ron Livingston (Standoff, Defying Gravity), Steve Zahn (Saving Silverman, Employee of the Month) & Tim DeKay (Tell Me You Love Me, White Collar).

Tonight is also the 90-minute season premiere of Tough Love on VH1 at 9/8c.

Finally tonight, on AMC, it’s the premiere of the 6-part mini-series, The Prisoner, at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd part at 9/8c. It tells the story of a man, Six (Jim Caviezel, The Passion of the Christ), who wakes up to find himself inexplicably trapped in a mysterious and surreal place, The Village, with no memory of how he arrived. As he frantically explores his new environment, he discovers that Village residents are identified by number, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. The Village is controlled by one man – the sinister and charismatic Two (Ian McKellen, Lord of the Rings, X-Men). Throughout the series, Six and Two are locked in a battle of wits, as Six challenges the oppressive nature of The Village and struggles to learn the truth behind it. Also starring are Jamie Campbell-Bower (The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Lennie James (Jericho) & Ruth Wilson (Suburban Shootout, Jane Eyre).
