TV News – 2/16/10

The Olympics are basically, running our TV schedules and TV news into the ground, that being said I am proud to be Canadian and have been watching. Men’s Freestyle Moguls, Canada’s first gold medal on Canadian soil 😀 I was so happy. The American athletes have all done amazing including Hannah Kearney on Women’s Freestyle Moguls, she was flawless. Okay enough Olympic ramblings, I’ll find you a bit of news and maybe some links to whether or not your favorite show has been cancelled. Here we go!

Supernatural has been renewed for a sixth season, except there is a small hitch, Eric Kripke will be “stepping down as the showrunner.” Executive producer Sera Gamble will step up to take his place, which is really okay because Gamble has been there since season 1, and is fabulous. Kripke will still play a big part in the show, remaining on as executive producer. There are also rumours that Kripke will be working on a new deal with Warner Bros., and not being the showrunner on Supernatural will give him this flexibility. I don’t know how I feel about this, I’m happy that it’s being renewed, but I hope it can keep it’s great momentum up with a different leader. Thoughts? Source

More after the jump

Ausiello is bringing us a “scorecard” of what shows are in, out and on the bubble for next season. It’s separated by network, but no cable shows are included. Check it out and keep the link so you can check back as it gets updated. I will be bringing you a complete list once the news is final. I am anxious to find out if the CW will renew Life UneXpected, I think they’d be brain dead not to. It’s a great show, with a fabulous cast, and it just needs a little time to get it’s bearings. Hopefully they won’t make any final decisions until after the Olympics when ratings will surely climb. List Here

I’m so happy with this casting news. Marc Blucas, who played Riley on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has been cast in the new ABC drama True Blue. The drama centers around “six San Francisco homicide detectives who set out to solve the murder of one of their own…Blucas will play JD, a divorced father of two who’s still hung up on his ex.” I loved Blucas on Buffy and I am looking forward to this pilot! Taryn Manning (Drive) is heading to the new pilot, Hawaii Five-O, to play the sister to Alex O’Loughlin’s character, Detective Steve McGarrett. I guess it’s unlucky for her she doesn’t get to play a love interest for the sexy O’Loughlin. 😉 For news on this pilot and more casting news head over to Zap2It

That’s it for today, don’t miss an all new episode of American Idol on FOX tonight at 8 pm. Of course you can also catch the Olympics on NBC, and many local stations including CTV in Canada. Happy Viewing!
