American Idol Top 12 Girls

Crystal Bowersox on American Idol Top 12

I’m going to be doing my best to bring you my opinion on American Idol each week, and for the next few weeks it’s going to be at least 3 times a week. 😀 Tonight we watched the girls perform and some were fabulous and others stunk so bad I could smell it through my television. If you haven’t watched the show then do not click the link, everyone else jump with me.

I’m going to give it to you in order and brief synopsis of what I was thinking and the judges take on it.

Paige Miles
All Right Now by Free
My Thoughts: Why didn’t we get more of her during the audition process? She has a great voice, it was just a bad song choice. I don’t think she was fond of Ryan Seacrest mentioning that she was waiting to pee because she was sewn into her dress…. Women don’t like the mystery ruined.
Judges: Simon said that out of all the girls, Paige has “the best voice”. I don’t understand because we’ve barely seen her at all during the early stages. I don’t understand at all. Ellen seems nervous, her first live show and Randy over compliments her.

Ashley Rodriguez
Happy by Leona Lewis
My Thoughts: I was surprised at how little I actually liked her. She’s been really hyped but she wasn’t that good at all. I also don’t think that singing a song by one of Simon’s artists the first night was wise, unless you KNOW you can sing it better! I doubt it’ll get her eliminated because she’s already a favorite, but she better step it up next week.
Judges- They did not like it at all. Simon called it “clumsy”.

Janell Wheeler
What About Love by Heart
My Thoughts: Wow, that was kind of bad. It sounded like karaoke, and made me think “What the Hell is she doing there?” I hope she gets voted off this week.
Judges: Kara nailed it when she said that the song was “too big” for her.

Lilly Scott
Fixing a Hole by The Beatles
My Thoughts: She was wonderful. Her performance had a sweet, jazz vibe to it. I also thought that she looked like she was at home on stage, and that goes a long way to make us love her. She’s a little off beat but I like her.
Judges: Randy thinks she’s “a real indie artist”.

Katelyn Epperly
Oh, Darling by The Beatles
My Thoughts: She kind of looks like an 80’s hooker in that leather dress and fishnet tights plus the big hair. She said she was going for the rocker chick look, and to that I say ‘try again’. Her voice is decent enough, but forgettable. The outfit I won’t forget.
Judges: Simon said it was “messy but it was a good song choice”. I disagree.

Haeley Vaughn
I Wanna Hold Your Hand by The Beatles
My Thoughts: YUCK! Horrendous! She sounded like a screaming banshee and she is really aggravating. I do like the red guitar though, but I dislike her with a passion. I do enjoy that song when sung well, but tonight I wanted to mute her.
Judges: Simon is the only one who says it like it is when he says that “it was verging on terrible”.

Lacey Brown
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
My Thoughts: She reminds me of a cute little pixie, I find her endearing. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. (Not like I HATED Haeley’s performance).
Judges: They hated it. All of them.

Michelle Delamor
Fallin’ by Alicia Keys
My Thoughts: That was a terrible song choice for tonight. It’s such a hard song, and although she has a big voice, she’s not Alicia Keys. Her overzealous arm movements annoyed and distracted me. I think that people will vote because they like the song not because they like her.
Judges: Ellen thinks she has more in her to give, and she wants Michelle to aim higher.

Didi Benami
I Am by Ingrid Michaelson
My Thoughts: I really like her voice, and the song was perfect for her. This performance made me like her more than I did to begin with. I just didn’t like her sweater vest crocheted thing… it was a little ugly.
Judges: What is with them? They pretty much hated it, and I was surprised and angry about that.

Siobhan Magnus
Wicked Game by Chris Isaak
My Thoughts: I was surprised at how good she sounded, because overall I didn’t like her before. She’s a little bit strange but she has a sultry voice.
Judges: Ellen called her “mysterious” and I have to agree.

Crystal Bowersox
Hand in my Pocket by Alanis Morrisette
My Thoughts: LOVED IT! Her voice is so real and edgy. I love that she plays her guitar and the harmonica at the same time. She’ll be here next week if America has any brains or taste at all.
Judges: They all agreed it was good, but thought that she could have been great.

Katie Stevens
Feelin’ Good by Michael Buble
My Thoughts: I really love her voice, but I didn’t love the song. She looked adorable, but not like herself. I’m in awe of her big voice but hope that next week she picks a song that shows off her pipes more.
Judges: They thought the song was too old for her, and I agree fully.

Overall, it was a decent start to the competition. If I had to pick who was going home based on performances I’d say Haeley Vaughn and Janell Wheeler. America please get it right! 😀 Tune in tomorrow for the top 12 boys.

I’ve just seen the girls, did my notes and compared with you. It’s incredible how your thinking is exactly the same as my thinking! 🙂 I couldn’t agree with you more, maybe just except Katie, I think she was great and the song matched her voice. 🙂

So….what’s up with Kara, and her change of attitude about Casey James? Since his audition she has been totally into him. Then last week she got alot of flack about it, and a comment about her husband was thrown out there. Then this week she treats him like an idiot, and in doing so…well I feel like she made herself look like an ass. Just my opinion of course:)
