American Idol Top 6 Performance and Results – 4/28/10

I’m a little late with my American Idol recap, so I’m going to do it a bit different tonight. I’m going to recap last night’s performances and then I’m going to talk about the results show tonight. Overall last night’s Shania Twain night was good, with a few surprise fantastic performances. Jump with me to hear my thoughts on the performances, and the results, but don’t jump if you haven’t watch yet and don’t want to be spoiled!

Lee Dewyze
You’re Still the One
My Thoughts: I loved how he slowed it down and made it his own. He has some great style and I would buy his version if he recorded it. Not to mention he looked adorable.
Judges: Ellen loved how he made it his. I was amused by her line, “All aboard the Shania Twain” LOL That could be so wrong on so many levels 😉 Simon thought that it was the “perfect song” for Lee.

Michael Lynche
It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing
My Thoughts: I love this song, so I was worried where Big Mike would take it. It was soulful, and although I’m not a huge fan of Mike’s I will say that he did a great job of making it fit into his R&B style.
Judges: They all loved it, and enjoyed how he made his own.

Casey James
My thoughts: I liked it a lot, it was one of his best performances to date. The slowed down guitar was really nice and it gave his vocals a chance to come through.
Judges: All loved it and thought it was his best performance yet.

Crystal Bowersox
No One Needs To Know
My Thoughts: I hated the arrangement, and I thought it was her worst performance to date. It pains me to say that because I am a big Crystal fan, but it was just terrible to watch. While I didn’t love the performance, I did love the fact that she was using it as a hint to her boyfriend. He better snap her up before she’s rich and famous, and all the rock star men want her.
Judges: Skated around telling her it was bad, except Simon who said it was “a coffeehouse performance” and was the most honest. We all love Crystal but tell it like it is.

Aaron Kelly
You Got a Way
My Thoughts: It was really convincing, and I was surprised at how much I actually like him. He really pulled it off this week, but country is his niche so it should have been an easy week for him. Some critics might complain about him changing the song lyrics from “make love” to “show love” but I don’t. What does a 17 year old boy know about making love and being deeply in love… nothing! I also thought it was adorable (corny but adorable) that he said he was singing it to his mom.
Judges: They all loved it. Ellen was surprised at how much emotion he showed.

Siobhan Magnus
Any Man of Mine
My Thoughts: Ouch. I really hated the arrangement and it was awkward. To be honest I’m totally over her screechy vocals and the screaming notes. I was not impressed and I’m not a fan, haven’t been for weeks.
Judges: Randy loved the punk meets country vibe, but Simon thought the one shrieky note sounded like she was giving birth. I agree with Simon.

After the performances, I think the bottom 3 should have been Siobhan, Crystal and Michael.

Onto the results, the bottom three ended up being Siobhan, Mike and Casey. Siobhan went home. While I didn’t enjoy her performance last night it would have been nice to see more than one girl left in the competition.

Don’t miss the Top 5 next Tuesday at 8 pm on FOX.
