TV News – 6/3/10

Tonight is a great night for TV with the season premieres of Burn Notice and Royals Pains on USA Network starting at 9 pm. There’s a bit of news for you, some sad and some baffling. Let’s get to it.

It is with great sadness that I write about the passing of Rue McClanahan, best known for her role as Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls. She passed away this morning after having a stroke. I loved her as Blanche, she was the original diva. She was fiery, sexy and funny, and such a strong character. May the beautiful woman rest in peace and our thoughts and condolences go out to her family. Please enjoy the clip I’ve included from The Golden Girls and to Rue… Thank you for being our friend.

More after the jump.

Why do they do this to me? Tate Donovan (Damages and Christina Chang (CSI:Miami) are leaving the new ABC show, No Ordinary Family. It’s being said it was “strictly a story-line related decision”. Well I love Tate Donovan and was really looking forward to seeing him on my television more regularly! *sigh* Oh well, the producers are saying that they will be trying to bring back both actors in a guest-star role instead of full time. While I know this happens all the time, I hate it when it happens to someone I like. Source

ABC will not be performing CPR on The New Adventures of Old Christine, and putting it on it’s schedule. The sitcom was cancelled by CBS two weeks ago, and there was a tiny window of hope that ABC would swoop in and rescue it, but alas no such luck for the Christine fans. ABC also decided not to pick up Ghost Whisperer after CBS kicked that one to the curb too… I’m disappointed but life will go on. Source

I squealed when I read that there will be a remake of Thundercats coming to the Cartoon Network in 2011. I loved that show as a kid and now it’ll be remade for a whole new generation! I’m such a geek, but a happy one. Full story here.

That’s all for now, but I hope you enjoy your night of premieres and be sure to check back daily for more contests, news, reviews and interviews! Thanks for reading.
