So You Think You Can Dance Top 10 – 6/23/10

This week’s So You Think You Can Dance featured the Top 10 dancers and it was a great week. We saw a steamy Paso Doble, a hilarious Bollywood and a really poignant contemporary.

If you haven’t watched and don’t want to be spoiled don’t read my review, everyone else jump with me.

Cristina with all-star Pasha
Paso Doble choreographed by Jean-Marc and France

My Thoughts: They make a very adorable couple, I mean who wouldn’t with Pasha. The dance itself was very dramatic but I did find it hard to watch anyone but Pasha. Although Cristina did do a really good job technically.
Judges: Nigel loved it. Mia thought it was “everything”. Adam loved her “confidence and commitment”.

Adechike and all-star Alison
Contemporary choreographed by Mandy Moore

My Thoughts: Love the choice of the song Listen to Your Heart, it was beautiful. I really enjoyoed this routine, it was so romantic, and the outfits made it even more so. Adechike’s lines were really wonderful, and then ending pose was intense. Well done.
Judges: Nigel was happy with the amount of emotion he was showing, but he wanted it to be less technical seeming. Mia wants him to find some inner joy and remember that dance is a “Heart form”. Adam wants him to dance less from his head and feel the dance, but he thought it was beautiful.

Alex and all-star Lauren
Broadway choreographed by Tyce Diorio

My Thoughts– I enjoyed it, and thought they were slick on the stage. They were sexy without touching each other too much. It was fun to watch, not his best routine ever though.
Judges-Nigel thinks he needs not to be so classical. Mia liked it, but Adam thought it was all at “an eleven” instead of different levels.

Ashley and all-star Mark
Jazz choreographed by Travis Wall

My Thoughts: Oh how I loved the song Wonderful by Annie Lennox. Ashley was so beautiful in that assisted pirouette. This routine is fierce. I was little taken back at the judges calling Travis out, saying his routine was more contemporary than jazz. I think it was a great Jazz routine. Jazz doesn’t always have to be all jazz hands and Fosse.
Judges: Nigel called Travis out saying it wasn’t Jazz, and Ashley was good at what it was. Mia liked it but didn’t seem to think it was Jazz either. Adam thinks she’s fabulous, but he wants her to open up more.

Billy and all-star Comfort
Krump choreographed by Lil ‘C

My Thoughts – Billy and Krumping just don’t seem realistic to me, but he actually did a pretty good job. Comfort was fabulous as usual.
Judges – Nigel hates the music, probably because he’s old lol. Nigel doesn’t think he’s found “the warrior yet”. Mia was freaked out by it and thought he was “Billy B Whack”. Adam thought he tried super hard, but thought it was a “failed experiment”.

Robert and all-star Anya
Argentine Tango choreographed by Jean-Marc and France

My Thoughts – I’m just not a big Robert fan, I find him difficult to watch. *ducks* I thought the lifts looked messy, and I didn’t really like it. I could just be me. 😉
Judges – Nigel thought it was great. Mia didn’t think he was powerful enough. Adam liked it and thought he had good footwork.

Melinda and all-star Ade
Contemporary choreographed by Stacey Tookey

My Thoughts – The dance is about Mother Earth and Mankind. I love Ade, he’s so freaking gorgeous. Okay back to the dance 😀 . It was a beautiful routine and it was danced wonderfully. I thought that Melinda held her own, even though with Ade on the stage it’s so hard to see anyone else. I really loved watching them and I was amazed at how well she did at contemporary considering she’s a tap dancer.
Judges – Nigel thought that Melinda had amazing lines. Mia loved the whole story, but wasn’t fond of the dress. Mia also thought her lines were gorgeous. Adam thought she was fantastic.

Jose and all-star Katherine
Bollywood choreographed by Nakul Dev Mahajan

My Thoughts – Jose really works hard at whatever style he’s given to try and perfect it. He didn’t quite perfect it, but he was so much fun to watch I didn’t care. He’s so freaking amusing.
Judges – Nigel was rambling about the World Cup, but he said Jose’s performance was good. Mia loved it, but didn’t think it was really Bollywood. Adam thought it was wrong to see him dance this way, but that he was fabulous doing it.

Lauren and all-star Dominic
Lyrical Hip-Hop choreographed by Tessandra Chavez

My Thoughts – That routine was intense, and they did wonderfully. It was a routine about women living with abuse, and Lauren really brought it to life. Dominic was also really fabulous. I saw a few sparks between the two of them didn’t you?
Judges– Nigel believed the performance, but he wants her to watch her technique. Mia loved it, she thought it was one of the best of the night. Adam thinks she just got better.

Kent and all-star Courtney
Jazz choreographed by Tyce Diorio

My Thoughts – Kent is just loveable, although in his video pieces he chatters too much. I was surprised at how manly he could appear. He definitely wasn’t sexy though, just cute. The routine was great though.
Judges – Nigel was kind of rude at pointing out so loudly, about how this was Jazz another jab towards to Travis. Ouch. Rude. He liked the routine though. Mia didn’t think he held his own. Adam wants him to stop just putting on a character, and actually find the character. Adam did say he was a fabulous dancer though.

I don’t really know who’s in the bottom, they are all fantastic. Personally I could live without Robert, but we’ll see who goes home tomorrow night on FOX at 9 pm.
