TV News – 7/23/10

So Megan’s been busy getting ready for Comic-Con and is now gone to San Diego. I told her I’d post news while she was unable to do so, and I’m just a big FAIL. There is a bunch of news, though (mainly casting), so I’ll post some, and the rest, well, I apologize if I missed something big!

In the most exciting news of the day, teen singing sensation Justin Bieber is going to be guest-starring on CSI. His storyline will conclude later in the season, making me think he’ll be on more than one episode. More info about the storyline here: SOURCE

ABC has The View, and CBS wants in on that action… The network has ordered a new daytime talk show for the Fall, which will be co-hosted by Julie Chen (host of Big Brother), Sara Gilbert (Roseanne, The Big Bang Theory, HawthoRNe), Sharon Osbourne (America’s Got Talent), Holly Robinson Peete (21 Jump Street, One on One), Leah Remini (The King of Queens), Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray on Broadway, Dancing with the Stars). Umm, ok… More info here: SOURCE

One of my favorite bits of news is the fantastic, bubbly Kirsten Vangsness, who plays Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds, is joining the cast of the mid-season spinoff, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. She’ll be playing the same character (obviously), and will be a series regular on BOTH shows. I love it! As much as I hated the news about AJ Cook being let go and Paget Brewster’s episode order being cut some, I am excited for the spinoff. Both women (plus all the rest of the cast) have tweeted to please don’t hold the network’s decision against the cast of either show by not watching. They’ve said the cuts weren’t because of the spinoff (ok, so we don’t know that for sure, but still…), and there is really nothing we can do to change the decision. I really enjoyed the new cast last season, so am looking forward to the new show. Even more so after this news! SOURCE

For some scoop about the upcoming season of Dexter, check out EOnline’s coverage of the Comic-Con panel. There are spoilers for the upcoming season, including how they plan to handle Rita’s death from last season, and where the show will pick up after that huge finale. So if you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t look! DEXTER SPOILER COMIC-CON COVERAGE

Finally, I saved the worst for last, in my opinion. News broke earlier today about a new role having been cast on Bones. It’s kind of spoilery, so don’t read further if you don’t want to know!

Ausiello broke the news that Canadian actress Katheryn Winnick (CSI, House, Ciminal Minds) has been cast to play Ashley, a war correspondent who moves to DC in the 2nd episode as Booth’s new girlfriend that he met in Afghanistan. For more info on the role, check out AUSIELLO and ZAP2IT.

[On a personal note for that one: I’m done. I’m sorry, but I’ve spent 5 seasons dealing with the will they/won’t they of a Booth/Bones relationship, and knowing it was too soon. Then they teased and said the 100th episode and the season finale would be a push in the right direction for B/B. Forgive me, but I fail to see how this role, after last season’s ending, is in the RIGHT direction. I didn’t like the finale (in fact, didn’t watch it all – heard about it, and watched the last 5 minutes, but couldn’t stomach it all), and now… I just can’t do it. As much as I love the show, this is just too much. I’ll wait and listen, and if the writers pull their heads out of their asses, I’ll jump back on the Bones train, but for now… I’ll bide my time and wait until they aren’t continually disappointing me on the relationship front. Do I absolutely require they be an official couple? No. But a series girlfriend for Booth after he confessed his love for Bones? Nope, can’t do it. *sigh*]
