If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/17/10

Tonight’s TV schedule brings us lots to choose from so let’s see what we are going to be watching.

Megan’s Choice

I’m going to go with the new sitcom on ABC Family, Melissa & Joey which premieres tonight at 8/7c with 2 new episodes.

Melissa & Joey is a sitcom that features Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) who is local politician who is the former wild child of a political family. When her sister goes to prison, and her brother-in-law disappears after the scandal, Mel is left to take care of her niece, Lennox and her nephew, Ryder. Mel is so busy that she’s unable to deal with everything by herself, so she looks for help. Strange but true, she finds Joe (Joey Lawrence), who is so desperate for a job, he moves in and becomes the “manny”. After this melding of “a new kind of family”, lots of hilarity takes place as well as a few lessons.

More on my choice and Jenny’s choice after the break.

The pilot reminded me of Who’s the Boss?, and made me remember back in the good old days where sitcoms were amusing and slightly cheesy. (but in a good way) Remember Family Matters? Well, at the moment there’s no Urkel, but the similarity of comedy style is there. I enjoyed it enough to suggest you watch it and make your own minds up.

Tonight, give yourself a change from the normal and tune into ABC Family at 8/7c to watch Melissa & Joey if for no other reason than to support Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence after all the years they amused us on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and Blossom!

Megan’s Choice

It was an easy choice for me tonight. The other day, I talked to Chris Gorham, one of the stars of USA’s new drama, Covert Affairs. He’s such a nice guy and a great actor. He really adds so much to the show, and they are incredibly lucky to have him. Check out the interview with him here: Chris Gorham Interview.

On tonight’s epsiode, Annie is put in charge of heading up an investigation into a major national security leak inside the Senate Intelligence Committee; Auggie works with his old special operatives unit stateside; Annie thinks that her brother-in-law is cheating.

Don’t miss tonight’s episode of Covert Affairs at 10/9c on USA!
