Tonight, Megan and I each have our own recommendations (Syfy, of course. 😉 ), but more importantly, we ask that you watch the Stand Up to Cancer special, which is airing on ABC, CBS, FOX & NBC at 8/7c. This is a very worthy cause, and I know a lot of people, myself included, have been affected by the disease, whether ourselves or a loved one. Both my mom and mother-in-law are breast cancer survivors. It’s a scary disease, and tonight’s special will help raise money to fund cancer research.
An extraordinary line-up of actors, musicians, athletes and journalists have banded together for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), the groundbreaking initiative aimed at raising funds to accelerate innovative cancer research bringing new therapies to patients quickly that will saves lives now. Musical guests scheduled to perform include Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Neil Diamond, The Edge, Lady Antebellum, Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Martina McBride, Aaron Neville and Stevie Wonder, among others. The special will be hosted Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer, and Brian Williams (the anchors, respectively, of the CBS, ABC and NBC evening news programs), and will feature numerous celebrity cancer survivors who exemplify that cancer can affect even the smartest, strongest and toughest people in our lives. Those expected to participate include Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), Lance Armstrong, Fran Drescher (The Nanny), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sharon Osbourne (America’s Got Talent), Maura Tierney (ER, The Whole Truth), Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) and Ethan Zohn (Survivor), among others.
Cat Deeley of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance will host the pre-show promotion to kick off the evening as the celebrity phone bank opens at 7:30/6:30c, which will stream on various places online.
Now, jump with us to see what we think you should be watching after SU2C!
Tonight is the summer finale (*cry*) of Eureka, which has been absolutely fantastic this season! Carter and Allison are together (Yay!), Zane and Jo aren’t (Boo!), and Henry is happy, which is nice. On tonight’s episode, Jo and Fargo ask Carter and Allison to help them track down a project that was stolen from Global Dynamics, and when further investigation prompts them to look into Grant’s past, they discover a surprising connection between him and Beverly. When Grant and Carter become stranded, they must race back in time to save Eureka. Eek! Don’t miss tonight’s episode on Syfy at 9/8c.
Now for my other suggestion for tonight, Haven of course. 🙂 I adore this show. Is it just the delicious cast? No,while that’s a definite plus, it’s the intriguing story lines, the creepy suspense and the well balanced humour.
Tonight Audrey’s friends throw her a surprise birthday party, and while we all know that surprise parties are evil anyways. This one becomes particularly dangerous when a predator comes to join the fun. Will our favorites survive? I guess we’ll have to watch to find out. 🙂 Tune in to Syfy tonight at 10/9c and see for yourself.
