My husband and I met when we were both working the front desk at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel in NYC in 1984. I was the FD supervisor and he was working the message desk so I was his boss. We had an instant bond but he was recently divorced, we were both dating multiple other people and I had a sense that he would break my heart, so we didn’t officially date for many months. We frequently went out dancing with groups of friends however, and always enjoyed each others company. We finally got together but only after he had already made arrangements to start college in Hawaii, so we soon parted. I eventually moved out of state as well, but 2 years later on a visit back home a friend set us up on a blind date (he had returned to NYC) and we long distance dated off and on for several years. During a 6 year “off” period he got remarried, but a year after his wife passed away he was grieving and a friend of his encouraged him to look me up. He did, and we talked on the phone for a year before I’d agree to a face to face. Once we met again though the writing was on the wall, it was like we’d never been apart. Three weeks later he moved in with me in Phoenix and we’ve been together ever since. We were married at sunset on a beach in Maui by a Hawaiian minister who sang the ceremony in Hawaiian & English. My husband said it was his best wedding ever! We’ve had our challenges, he became disabled with RSDS and I’ve been laid off from work twice since 9/11, but our bond is strong and through the adversity we can still make each other laugh. We’re each others best friends, what more could anyone ask for?
I met my boyfriend at a party. I kept hoping I’d see him at the parties we went to after that until one day, on New Years Eve, he finally made a move. We’ve been together ever since. 🙂
Oh yay, HIMYM is my favorite show 🙂
I met my boyfriend at work. We got assigned on the same project and the rest is history 😉
We met through mutual friends. He used to come over to study with my roommate and eventually I noticed they weren’t really studying for anything, he just kept coming over to see me. He took me out on such formal dates (extremely impressive for poor college students) and was such a good guy, unlike anyone else I had met. We’ve been together ever since!
Also, my favourite part of HIMYM is when they Bro-out. I love Marshall and Ted’s advenutres together, like the Fiero-asco or when they drove to Ohio for pizza. Their friendship is rock solid and looks like a blast.
I am currently significant-other-less, but, my favorite thing about the show is the friendships between the characters, especially Barney and everyone else. He pretends to be so callous, but he definitely cares deeply about everybody else. It’s so sweet.
i haven’t met my sig. Other yet. Cut me some slack I’m still a teenager! Haha 🙂 anyway my favorite part of HIMYM is Barney! And his suits! And of course all the great music videos from our favorite Canadian teen pop star!! 🙂
*favorite former teenage pop star, robin.
I met my boyfriend in student-housing. He just lived a floor above me. We both startet watching HIMYM togehther and still love to watch it 🙂
I met my husband in college. I was a tiny but worldly Sophomore and he was a newbie freshman who was 6’7″ tall and looked a little like Mr. Spock. Someone I thought I should know. So I dragged a chair over to him one day and stood on it so as to be eye-to-eye and began chatting. However, there were other contenders in the ring, most of his room mates had also thrown there hats in (as you will see, literally). Some even stayed up with me all night when I was on night watch, some wrote me songs on aged guitars. It was a little weird, like if one of them got a girl then the rest would be stripped of their manhood.
After the first year we had all become friends but the competition was still on. However my husband and I got to be better and better friends. Finally, we were all at a nightclub and as it was a sort of English Beat night, the guys were wearing hats. After a few drinks I sat down on the future Mr.’s lab and took off his hat. Putting the had between us and the rest of the gang I gave him a big smooch. So there it was, the decision had been made and the others were out of the race. (though I kinda missed the all night company in the office) And yes, along with a hat the future Mr. was….”Suited Up!”
I met my bf while working together at a summer camp. we became really good friends, and i would look forward to seeing him every day. as the summer went by, we would playfully flirt with each other more and more…all of our campers would tease us that we liked each other so I guess it seemed obvious to everyone else how into each other we were. at the end of the summer after work, he walked me home and we hung out for a little bit. when he had to go, i gave him a hug goodbye. to my surprise, he responded with giving me a soft and slow kiss on the lips. it was one of those kisses you just never forget. it was in that moment that i realized i was in love with my best friend. we’ve been together ever since…and his kisses still give me butterflies!
I met my husband in college our freshman year in our dorm. I’m not actually sure when we met or how because we were friends for about four years before we dated so it was never a ‘significant’ moment for me and thus not memorable (shhhh).
I met my boyfriend when he asked my opinion when buying a present for his sister … its unclear whether it was an excuse to talk to me or he actually wanted my advice =)
I met my husband on yahoo personals. But ironically, we worked right next store to eachother for years and even parked across from eachother in the parking lot. But out schedules were a few hours different so we never ran into eachother before meeting online.
I met my husband in high school, his best friend was dating my best friend, really though I met him in Jr. high. we were both in band together and both played a form of the clarinet but I don’t remember him lol
I met him when I moved into my apartment. He was my neighbor.
We went to school together and then got together in high school.
havent met them yet, broke up with a couple. Still in search but I’m still just a teenager…maybe i’ll be “Barney” for a couple days and mess with the “play book”
One word why i love HIMYM….NPH ! Although i do love the rest of the cast very much, Barney (NPH) is the hilarious single guy with all the schemes.
I haven’t yet, and I’m more of a Robin than a Ted when it comes to relationships, haha.
I love Barney. He is legen…wait for it…dary. The friendships, how they are such a tight-knit group. Marshall and Lily’s relationship. How funny it is. So many things to like about HIMYM.
I love that the show really seems like a group of my friends.
My husband and I were childhood friends. He was the best man at my first wedding. That marriage lasted 5 years. He then became my protector while I was getting divorced. And I fell in love with him.
I met my boyfriend when I was a freshman in high school & he was a senior. We were just friends but then five or six years later he messaged me on AIM asking who I was and we just talked ever since 🙂 Been over a year now <3
