If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/5/11

This first week back after holidays seems to be moving a bit slow. Perhaps it’s a hangover from all the chocolate and treats we ate over the holidays, I’m not sure. One thing I do know is that having all our favorite shows making their way back to a normal schedule definitely helps fight the after holiday blues. Speaking of favorite television, let’s see what we all think you should be watching tonight. 😀

It may not be everyone’s top choice tonight, but I’ll be watching Human Target. I don’t know if it’s the fact that Mark Valley who plays ‘Chance’ is so sexy, the sarcastic humour of Chi McBride, or the excellent action scenes. Whatever it is that draws me in, I love it and keep coming back for more.

On tonight’s double episode, a rift develops between Ilsa and Chance when his former girlfriend (Leonor Varela) implores him to rescue a colleague who was kidnapped by a South American despot. Meanwhile, an inept private eye (Tony Hale) may have blown his last case.

Back for more hilarity is an all new episode of Modern Family, which only continues to soar high in ratings and laughs in its second season! You really can’t deny that the Pritchetts and the Dunphys are two of the most endearing, infuriating, charming, irritating, and funny families on television right now. Gloria, Manny, Cameron, Jay, Phil, Claire, Mitchell, Haley, Alex, and Luke have come to be new members of the viewer’s family, and as one of those weekly viewers might I say, oh how I have missed them!

The laughs roll right along in tonights episode where Claire has made it her mission to stop a car that speeds through the neighborhood while Phil is stuck having to deal with a difficult client. Jay has the task of teaching Manny how to ride a bike and Mitchell and Cameron encounter a rather charming neighbor.

Tonight’s pick is one of those shows that I feel like I have to get ready to be defensive about but, come on, don’t we all have at least one of those shows with a Season Pass on our DVR? Mine is the current season of Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. Normally, I watch a little bit each season and then bail, but this current season I’ve been glued to every single bit. What is the draw? The celebs (Janice Dickinson, Eric Roberts, Jeremy London, to name a few) going through the stages of rehab and withdrawal are fascinating, and whether they’re here to truly get better or just get some TV time (or both), it makes for riveting television. The real reason to watch, though, is Dr. Drew, who is truly trying to help these people. Say what you want about his own TV ambitions, the guy knows his stuff and knows how to give both tough love and a warm, encouraging hug. Count me in!

On tonight’s episode, after Leif Garrett nearly relapses and jeopardizes his health and progress at the treatment center, Dr. Drew confronts him about the incident, and Jeremy London discovers a dark secret that could greatly traumatize his marriage.

Tonight’s new episode airs on VH1 at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew @ Clicker.

I’m happy, because there are 2 new episodes of Law & Order: SVU on tonight. This show has had its ups and downs this season, but it’s still a great show and worth watching. I love Olivia, and even still have a fondness for Stabler, so I’m happy to get 2 new eps tonight.

On the first episode, a young boy is found dead on a park carousel after being dropped off by his uncle, and when Detectives Benson and Stabler investigate, they believe a bully at school could be behind it. They make other unsettling discoveries. Bullying are a hot topic right now, so this episode is particularly timely. Drea de Matteo (Desperate Housewives) guest stars on tonight’s episode.

On the second episode, a young man finds that his girlfriend Larissa Welsh has been attacked in her apartment with evidence that points to her buried past. Detectives Benson and Stabler go in search of her attacker and discover that an elderly man, Orville Underwood, may have been involved in traumatic events of Welsh’s past. For the detectives, solving the case comes down to who was in possession of the evidence. Taryn Manning (Sons of Anarchy) and David Patrick Kelly (Twin Peaks) guest star.

Don’t miss the 2 new episodes of Law & Order: SVU on NBC at 9/8c & 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Law & Order: SVU @ Clicker.
