TV News – 1/6/11

I’m so excited that it’s Thursday! There is a lot of great television coming back tonight, and I need some distraction. It’s only about 8 weeks until my baby boy makes his appearance, and I am fighting off a flu bug, so I need some down time. For now let’s take a look at what’s going on in the TV news world and later check back for my run down of the People’s Choice Awards.

Debra Messing (Will and Grace), is going to be guest starring on Law & Order: SVU as a “television journalist working to expose pedophiles, and the SVU detectives must step in when her own life is put in danger.” I love Messing and I think she has what it takes to play a serious role, and not just a comedic one. Expect to see the beautiful star appearance sometime this February. Source

More after the jump.

Adam Busch (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), is heading to Grey’s Anatomy as a first year resident who will shadow Cristina. Busch is set to appear in the January 13th episode, which only means that Cristina is starting to get her grove back sooner than I expected. Now let’s just hope that Busch isn’t as creepy on Grey’s as he was on Buffy. Source

NBC has ordered a new drama pilot, Playboy. The drama is set in the 1960’s and follows Playboy bunnies in the Chicago club. It’s written by Chad Hodge and will deal with the political and other changes that occured in the 1960’s. Sounds like it could be a new genre for drama, especially with all the medical and legal dramas already on TV, however we’ll see what NBC can do with it. Source

That’s all for now, I’ll be back later today with the run down of the People’s Choice Awards. Don’t miss all the great new television on tonight.
