If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/22/11

It’s a slower week than last week for television, but there are still a few great shows on to watch. I can’t wait for the summer season to begin, with new seasons of shows like True Blood or Rookie Blue on their way, but for now, we need to wrap up this season of regular programming.

I don’t usually suggest one of the animated comedies that air on FOX, but tonight, I’m going to suggest you watch the seaon finale of Family Guy. I don’t watch it every week, but I have been known to enjoy a giggle or two, especially when Stewie is plotting world domination. 🙂

On tonight’s season finale, it’s part six of the Star Wars triology. Luke (Chris) must negotiate for the life of Han Solo (Peter) with Jabba the Hut (Joe), who has the whip hand, and a henchman named Rancor (Rush Limbaughg).

Tune in to FOX at 9/8c to see this comedic spoof come to it’s end. Learn where to find episodes online of Family Guy @ Clicker.

Not a lot on tonight, but one of my current favorite fics is new, and that makes me happy. Breakout Kings quickly became a breakout hit for me and my husband, and I find something I absolutely love in each episode. This week is the next to last episode of the season, and I am really hoping A&E decides to renew it! If they don’t, I’ll be very, very unhappy! 🙁

On tonight’s episode, a shocking scene at a prison erupts when an 18-wheeler crashes into the prison wall and an armored car escapes from the back of the truck with several convicted felons hiding inside. The team is quick to begin the hunt for the fugitives, and they learn the escapees are being led by Ronald Barnes, a Madoff-like man who is hated by all. They follow Barnes’ trail and eventually realize that his plans of helping his fellow cons reach freedom along with him were all a ruse to distract the authorities from tracking down Barnes himself. Barnes will kill anyone who gets in his way, and the Breakout Kings must outsmart him before it’s too late.

See if they catch their man tonight on A&E at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Breakout Kings @ Clicker.

After a season that was filled with more drama then any other that has come before it, The Celebrity Apprentice season finale goes out with a bang! If you thought the smackdowns that went on during this season were the highlight, you’ve got to get a reality check! NeNe Leaks and Star Jones return tonight, and even Gary Busey shows up for some more. I can almost guarantee you that by the end of tonight’s show, there will be blood! It’s all been leading up to this single event, where Marlee Matlin and John Rich, both of whom I predicted would be the finalists, go head to head in a challenge that pits them against each other. Marlee has the task of creating a 70s themed soda can, commercial, and charity event, with her main attraction at the event being The Harlem Globetrotters. John has the task of creating an 80s themed soda can, commercial, and charity event, with his main attraction at the event being the band Def Leppard. Only one person can reign supreme, and both John and Marlee have excelled all season long. Who will take the title of Celebrity Apprentice, and who will be fired?

Tonight, in the two hour season finale, the finalists rush to prepare for their big 7Up events. One team grows increasingly frustrated by their team leader, while another finalist introduces the band before they’re even ready to go on.

Donald Trump announces the winner of The Celebrity Apprentice tonight, so don’t miss a moment starting at 9/8c on NBC! Learn where to find episodes online of The Celebrity Apprentice @ Clicker.

I haven’t had a chance to recommend this show, but since tonight is pretty slow, I figured now was a good time to tell you to check out Coming Home on Lifetime. If you haven’t seen or heard about the show yet, here’s the down and dirty: Hosted by former American Idol contestant, Matt Rogers, the show provides an inside look into military men and women as they return from serving our country, by way of home videos and special set ups to surprise their loved ones. Throughout the episode, they show home video clips of different cities around the country, surprising kids, spouses, friends, and other family members.

Also each episode, there is a central story the show focuses on. With that story, Matt meets the family of the person coming home, and helps plan a surprise. Most of the time, we get to see parents conspiring with Matt to surprise the kids when Dad is returning, but occasionally we get a spouse or a grown child surprising their parents. Setups have included a big birthday party for twin girls, a dad’s return just in time to see his son announce what college he would be attending to play football, as well as a surprise wedding and date night. Whatever special event they plan, the show never fails to make me a blabbering fool by the end. I always make sure to keep my box of tissues at hand!

Tonight, with the help of the famous country music recording artist, Clay Walker, a returning soldier is able to pull off the surprise of a lifetime for his beloved wife in front of a huge crowd at a sold-out concert in Music City.

Check it out tonight on Lifetime at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Coming Home @ Clicker.
