If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/15/11

It’s kind of a slow night for television, but there are some great shows on, including the return of Hot in Cleveland and the series premiere of Happily Divorced on TV Land. There’s also Game 7 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on NBC, so if you are watching, good luck to your team! If you aren’t planning to watch hockey, check out what we think you should watch tonight!

It used to be that network channels were the only places to find good quality TV. Not so, anymore. For the last few years especially, cable channels have been working their way up to providing viewers with shows that are entertaining and just as good as you’ll find on the networks. USA and TNT have been favorites of mine for several years now, but last summer, almost to the exact day (it premeired June 16!), TV Land jumped into the race with their fantastic comedy, Hot in Cleveland. The show stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves (Frasier), Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me), & the always funny, incomparable Betty White. It is truly a funny show and it’s so much fun to see those 4 ladies together on screen. They never fail to entertain, which is why it quickly became of favorite of both mine and my husband’s.

On tonight’s summer premiere (Season 2 actually started in January), the women find themselves in the middle of Amish country while on the hunt for Elka, who recently made her escape from the law. Joy worries that she may face deportation after being mistaken for one of the governor’s mistresses.

Don’t miss it tonight on TV Land at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hot in Cleveland @ Clicker.

Happy Wednesday! 🙂 While watching TV, I’m going to also putting the finishing touches on the cupcakes for my daughter to bring to school for her birthday Thursday. I can’t believe she’s going to be 6. My baby girl is growing up so fast. 🙁 Well, I’ll worry about that more tomorrow. For tonight, I’m going to enjoy some great television.

Tonight is when my favorite part of the So You Think You Can Dance competition starts. The Top 20 will take the stage in partnerships and perform routines with styles being randomly picked out of a hat usually. They are dancing for our votes, and this is where we get to see what they’re really made of. The Top 20 hope to impress the judges with their moves and rigorous routines, and they hope that they earn high praise from the judges and the viewers’ votes necessary to continue on in the competition.

Tune in tonight to FOX at 8/7c for the new 2-hour episode and to see how the the new couples do. Learn where to find episodes online of So You Think You Can Dance @ Clicker.

Following their success of Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35, TV Land is hoping they have another hit on their hands with the new comedy, Happily Divorced, starring Fran Drescher (The Nanny), Rita Moreno (Cane, Oz), D.W. Moffett (Friday Night Lights, Life Is Wild), & John Michael Higgins (Raising the Bar, Arrested Development). Even if you don’t recognize the names (like my husband!), you will most certainly recognize the faces, because these are all people you don’t forget. This show is interesting, because it’s based off of Drescher’s real life. Her ex-husband will co-write the show.

On tonight’s premiere, a divorcee florist attempts to move on with her life with a new man after learning that her spouse of nearly two decades is homosexual, but the situation is made more difficult due to the fact that she and her ex-husband are still living together.

Don’t miss tonight’s premiere on TV Land at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Happily Divorced @ Clicker.

One of the newest and hottest shows of the summer continues to heat up each week, with unique storylines and handsome eye candy! Franklin & Bash brings the funny, flirty, and even the outrageous each week, in all new episodes of this brand new show. Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer have wonderful chemistry together and effortlessly play the best of friends and colleagues. These two guys pack a mean punch, along with the smarm, charm, and charisma of Malcolm McDowell as their boss. If you’re looking for a Wednesday pick-me-up, then Franklin & Bash will hit all the right notes!

Tonight, a plain woman who believes she was fired for being too attractive seeks out legal representation from the legal duo. Also, the man-cave’s technology causes the server to crash.

Watch an all new episode at 9/8c on TNT! Learn where to find episodes online of Franklin & Bash @ Clicker.

Kind of interested in checking out the premiere of Fran Drescher’s new show just to see how she is post-The Nanny. But will be mainly watching F&B and the Top Chef Masters finale.
