It’s Thursday, which has got to be my FAVORITE day of the week this summer. As much as I love everything else airing right now, tonight includes two shows that I’ve been looking forward to for months. It’s a big day, so in addition to Lisa’s & Kyle’s single recommendations, Megan is doing two shows, and I’m doing three… Forgive me? 😉 Now, on to what our picks are!
Jenny’s Choice
I will admit that I have seen tonight’s premiere of Rookie Blue. Last summer, it became an instant hit with me, for a multitude of reasons (not the least of which was the instant chemistry between Missy Peregrym’s Andy and Ben Bass’ Sam!). The entire cast is fantastic. I’ve mentioned it before, but there are some procedurals that focus too much on the cases and give nothing to the personal relationships. There has to be a balance, and Rookie Blue is a great example of that. We see a lot of the new cops and their personal lives, but the cases are always interesting and aren’t generally overshadowed by the personal. Tonight’s premiere is a great example of that. There’s a lot of personal stuff, but the case is good, too. I have to say, though, as you can see from the photo with this part of the post, there is at least one squee-worthy moment for us Sandy fans. 😉
On tonight’s premiere, Andy’s world explodes when a fresh-faced university student is caught in the crossfire during a random concert shooting. Devastated by the seemingly senseless act of violence, she sets out to unravel the motive and track down the shooter — putting her in direct conflict with Division 15′s new detective, Jo Rosati. Meanwhile, as Rosati investigates her own angle on the concert mayhem, sparks fly between her and her former partner, Detective Luke Callaghan.

What happened?! For the last few weeks, Love Bites has been the only first-run scripted show on Thursdays, but this week, there are six additional shows starting up! So choosing just one show is tough, but my pick for tonight is the mid-season double-episode premiere of Futurama.
Futurama was one of my favorite animated shows, and I was sad to see it cancelled by Fox many years ago. But I continued to re-watch the episodes on DVD and bought the comic book in order to get my fix of the latest adventures of the Planet Express crew. I was so thrilled when I heard the news that the show had been resurrected from the dead (due to great DVD sales and syndication ratings)! It is wonderful getting new first-run episodes on Comedy Central, and in HD! The only down-side is that I can’t immediately re-watch these new episodes with the cast/crew commentary (as I had gotten used to doing with the DVDs). Futurama is such a great blend of sci-fi, pop-culture and comedy. I highly recommend checking it out.
Tonight’s two new episodes are “Neutopia,” where the crew encounters a bizarre alien with the power to change their characteristics, and “Benderama,” where Bender gains the ability to replicate himself.
Check them out tonight on Comedy Central at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Futurama @ Clicker.
Megan’s Choice #1
I am like a kid on Christmas morning, waiting to open the gift of an all new episode of Rookie Blue tonight! This show is one of those shows that you either love or hate, and I love it! Gregory Smith is adorable, and I’ve loved him, ever since his days as Ephriam on Everwood. Add into the mix my adoration for Missy Peregrym as Andy McNally, because she’s so amazing in this role. My only hope for this season is that Andy and Sam end up together and Luke disappears. 🙂
On tonight’s season premiere, a shooting at a concert rattles Andy and causes conflict with Detective Jo Rosati (Camille Sullivan). Also, sparks fly between Rossi and her former partner, Luke.
Tune in to ABC at 10/9c to fall in love with this show as much as we here at TV Is My Pacifier have. Learn where to find episodes online of Rookie Blue @ Clicker.
Jenny’s Choice #2
Yay, it’s back! Last season of Burn Notice found Michael and Fiona together, Jesse learning the truth about Michael being the one to burn him, and Michael getting back into the spy world. Where that will take us this season, I have no idea. The promos I’ve seen with Michael and Fiona have been HOT HOT HOT, so I’m hopeful we’ll get some fighting (or as I like to call it with that pair: foreplay) and hot smexin! How things will work out with Michael back as a spy, I dunno, but I’m sure whatever happens, the writers will do it justice. They always do.
On tonight’s season premiere, Michael Westen finds himself partnering with an operative (Grant Show – Swingtown, Melrose Place) for the Central Intelligence Agency in order to find and bring down the individuals who had him burned. The team tracks their targets to Venezuela.

Haven’t sunk your teeth into or been turned on to Love Bites yet? Do yourself a favor and make sure you open wide and take a big bite! Greg Grunberg and Becki Newton provide tons of laughs and quirky situations about love, sex, and relationships that you won’t want to take your eyes off of the TV screen. Your new Thursday night must see TV show just got a lot more adult and juicier, and that’s the way you should like it!
Tonight, Judd and Colleen indulge in some treats from the medical marijuana store and almost miss an important family event. A teenager’s family tries to give him some advice about the prom, and an astronaut suspects that his girlfriend is cheating.

I am a huge fan of The Amazing Race, so it would stand to reason that I’m going to give the new show Expedition Impossible a chance. The show follows 13 teams of 3 members each, while they race across the dangerous terrain of Morocco. Each week, a new stage of the expedition will be revealed to the teams. They are racing for a prize of $50,000 per team member, as well as a new Ford Explorer.
On tonight’s premiere episode, the teams tackle the Sahara desert and the cliffs of Todra Gorge.

My third pick tonight is one that I’m recommending almost solely because it airs on the USA Network. Suits looks ok on the promos, and the cast is good, but I find myself having a hard time getting excited about it. Maybe that’s because I’m enjoying Franklin & Bash. Maybe it’s because the pictures I’ve seen of the leads doesn’t really make me smile (they are cute, but their hair is so blah, it makes them look boring). I dunno. But like I said, it’s on USA, and I’m such a big fan of their shows, I want to try and go into it with an open mind, and so should you.
Suits is about Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams, guest star on a lot of shows, like Pretty Little Liars, Flashforward, NCIS, Friday Night Lights), a brilliant young college-dropout who slips into a job interview with one of New York City’s best legal closers, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht, The Others). Harvey recognizes Mike’s raw talent and photographic memory and hires him on the spot. The show also stars Meghan Markle (90210, Fringe), Sarah Rafferty (guest star on a lot of shows, like Brothers and Sisters, Bones, Numb3rs, Pepper Dennis), Rick Hoffman (Samantha Who?, Jake in Progress, Philly), & Gina Torres (Alias, Firefly).
Check out the 75-minute series premiere tonight on the USA Network at 10/9c to see if you like it! Learn where to find episodes online of Suits @ Clicker.
Since I limited my pick to one show, I’d like to add that I look forward to watching all of Jenny’s and Megan’s selections for tonight as well. Rookie Blue is great, I enjoy pretty much everything USA has to offer, and I’m a huge Amazing Race fan as well. 🙂 Thursday has become a DVR overload night (along with Sundays)!
I havent seen Rookie Blue.. but such enthusiasm here… I think i just might DVR it.
Now would you recommend I go back and watch previous season, or is this something I can pick up on tonight and worry about catching up later?
Love Bites is a WINNER! love love this show. Its the talk of the water cooler here every Friday morning. I really enjoy the mini episodes within the one… each story is unique and the characters rotate in and out well.
Curious about Expedition Impossible too.. as well as Suits.
Thursdays just got a whole lot better. : )
Mmm, I think you’re fine to go in to Rookie Blue tonight without having to see season 1. There are some things you should know going in that will help (like, Sam & Andy have this huge chemistry, but they were training officer/trainee, so they didn’t do anything about it, and then she became involved with Luke, and now he’s the safe choice, so she is still with him. And Traci is a single mom, although for now, she’s back with her baby daddy. She was in a relationship with another detective, but isn’t now, obviously.) but for the most part, you can pick it all up.
I still recommend seeing Season 1 if you can. 😉
