If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/8/11

It’s amazing how quickly this month is flying by. Before I know it, I’ll be on plane to Comic-Con and bringing you all updates on your favorite stars and shows! The hardest part will be leaving my kids, but I’m sure that seeing the cast of shows like True Blood and Glee will soothe me a little. 😉 Although, I’m not sure who is going to soothe my husband as he’s left to play mommy for a few days. I’m sure he’ll survive… I hope. 🙂 Enough about my travels. Let’s see what’s on television tonight.

Friday night is one of the slower nights for television, but there are a few things on to watch. I’m suggesting you watch the season premiere of Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids. You’ve seen the brides stress over their perfect dress, but now we get to watch the battle of the bridesmaids. Will they end up in hideous dresses or something that they actually like? It’s drama picking a wedding dress, but getting all the bridesmaids to agree on the the same dress? That’s insanity.

On tonight’s season premiere episode, we meet the staff of ‘Bridals by Lori’. Then a bride wants her bridesmaids to wear fur muffs for her winter wedding, and a difficult bridesmaid refuses to be in her friend’s wedding unless she gets the dress she likes.

Tune in to TLC at 10/9c for the season premiere. Learn where to find episodes online of Say Yes To the Dress: Bridesmaids @ Clicker.

In preparation for the new season of Torchwood, I re-watched the season 3 “Children of Earth” mini-series (I can’t believe it has been 2 years since that aired!). For those unfamiliar with the show, Torchwood is a spin-off of the recent Doctor Who revival series. It follows the exploits of a small team of skilled individuals, whose goal is to defend the planet from sundry extraterrestrial threats. When we last saw the Torchwood crew, the only people remaining were Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper. The Torchwood office had been blown up, Jack had just lost team member/partner Ianto Jones and sacrificed his grandson to save the Earth, and Gwen had discovered she was pregnant. I’m really looking forward to finally getting more Torchwood, but I’m a little wary. This year the show moves from Cardiff, Wales to America and adds a lot of new American cast members. One thing I loved about the show was that it had that foreign feel, so I hope it can still maintain that and not become yet another American procedural. It gives me some relief that Starz is involved in this production, as they have done a really good job with the recent Spartacus series. It will be interesting to see how Torchwood is rebuilt/restaffed, how Jack is affected by the deaths of last season, and how Gwen deals with raising a baby amongst all the chaos.

The fourth season is titled “Miracle Day,” and in tonight’s premiere, “The New World,” Death itself comes to a standstill.

The last episode of Flashpoint ended with Ed racing through the city to get to the hospital, where his wife had gone into labor. On his way, he was shot, and we have no idea if he will live or die. Tonight is technically the season four premiere, I guess, and it picks up right where the last episode left off. Victor Garber (Alias) returns tonight as the man looking into the team.

On tonight’s episode, Team One races to find Ed’s shooter and connect him to a drug kingpin who is using the shooter to import opium from Afghanistan. Ed is rushed into emergency surgery, while his wife is having problems delivering their baby.

Next week marks the airing of the very final episode of Friday Night Lights, a show that’s been a fixture in so many households season after season. The heartache, drama, suspense, and tenderness all culminates into one amazing episode that should not be missed. For now, you can still indulge in all new episodes by tuning in to tonight and relishing in your favorite Texas natives and their emotional journeys.

Tonight, Coach Taylor receives quite an offer that isn’t easy to refuse. Tim decides to reassess his future plans when an old flame strolls back to Dillon. Plus, the fate of the East Dillon football team is decided.

Also looking forward to new Flashpoint episodes. However, I just realized I never watched the last 6 or so episodes of season 3 (ever since CBS stopped airing them last September). So looks like a rapid catch-up is in order before the new season!

Oh! You haven’t been watching this summer? Shame on you! 🙂
