If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/12/11

It’s officially one week until I hope on a plane headed to San Diego to Comic-Con! Who else is getting excited? 😀 Luckily, this is a busy week of television to keep my mind off of it… Well, almost. 😉 Let’s take a look at what’s going to distract me tonight.

I have been loving the new drama, Combat Hospital, and I’m surprised by that. There have been so many medical shows on television in the past few years, but this one has set the bar high for the rest of the season. I’m really enjoying all the armed forces injuries and watching the difficulties that they face in the medical field.

On tonight’s episode, a Romanian civilian suffers a brain hemorrhage and needs immediate neurosurgery, and Simon must talk Rebecca through the operation on a cell phone from a medevac helicopter. Bobby and Pedersen examine a high-ranking Air Force officer with insomnia.

Tune in to ABC at 10/9c to fall in love with this show like I have. Learn where to find episodes online of Combat Hospital @ Clicker.

I look forward to Tuesday every week this summer because of the new episode of Covert Affairs. I’ve heard some people ragging on it, but honestly, it’s one of my favorites. I love Piper Perabo and Chris Gorham as Annie and Auggie. They make a fantastic team, and I’m so glad Auggie decided the new job wasn’t for him and came back. It obviously wouldn’t be the same without him, and although I hadn’t thought he would leave the show, I was hoping they wouldn’t screw it up with him being a little less than he has been. Thankfully, that’s not what happened!

On tonight’s episode, Annie finds herself being held as a captive of the Eastern European country of Belarus after a mission to install security cameras goes awry. Joan tasks Jai with setting up a team and executing a rescue mission for Annie.

After a shocking finale to last week’s episode left fans with their jaws to the floor, Pretty Little Liars continues with the shock value in tonight’s episode! Aria, Emily, Spencer, and Hanna may have been asked to spend some time apart from one another, but you’d never know it from all the time they still manage to sneak in. Ian’s death last episode blew things wide open (no pun intended), and the Liars will want to cling to one another moreso now then ever, but will their parents actually relent? Spencer found a way to keep Toby close by, but at the cost of her sister Melissa’s wedding ring. What will happen when Melissa discovers that Spencer pawned it, or worse, who actually bought it? “A” may have had her way for now, but will the Liars get their chance to turn the tables?

In an all new episode, the shocking news about Ian makes its way through Rosewood. As it does so, Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily plus their families all try to cope with the outcome and some very much needed closure. But with Spencer’s home life especially in turmoil, she has to try and stay focused on her family and the surprising support that she gets from her parents. Emily, on the other hand, can’t seem to find that closure many of the other girls are relishing in. She decides to make it a point to try and find any shred of evidence that may have been overlooked. Aria seeks comfort in Ezra, but with their relationship still extremely new to the outside world, the couple struggles to be so public so fast. With everyone looking for comfort and sharing in this sigh of relief, could Emily be right and the enemy they think has been put to rest is nowhere near the evil that still is hanging around out there, just waiting for the Liars to get their just desserts?

Another show I really love on Tuesdays is Memphis Beat. Dwight Hendricks is such a fantastic character. He loves his city, loves his job, and while he doesn’t hesitate to bend the rules a little bit to do what needs to be done, he’s just a damn good cop and a damn good man. The show is unlike any other cop drama, and it really has the same feel as the south. In my opinion, this show is a sleeping giant. I’m not sure it gets the recognition or the viewers it so deserves. If you haven’t given it a shot, please do.

Tonight, the Lieutenant and Whitehead team up to investigate the mysterious burning of a local landmark. Dwight and his mother visit the man who shot his father in order to finally put to rest his suspicions of his father being a crooked cop.

Last week’s White Collar was one of my favorite episodes of the entire series so far. It was great to see things switched up, with Peter being the guy undercover and Neal as his support on the outside. The episode also used the extended cast very well—it finally felt like the character of Elizabeth Burke served a purpose on the show. I hope to see more of this throughout the season. I wonder if tonight, we will see the opening credits revert back to those of seasons 1 & 2. There was a large fan revolt against the new credit sequence introduced this season, and TPTB put it up to an internet vote. I preferred the season 1/2 credits, but don’t really care either way, as I usually press the 30-second skip button on the
DVR anyway.

In tonight’s episode, “Scott Free,” a teenage con man goes on a New York crime spree, and Neal has to make a decision about his role in the case.

Check it out tonight on USA Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of White Collar @ Clicker.

HawthoRNe nearly lost me as a viewer this season. It still might, depending on how things go tonight. Why? Not because it’s bad, but because this season so far has been so dark and heavy. A storyline about an attack on a pregnant woman on her wedding day which leads to her having to deliver a stillborn baby will do that… They have been trying to balance the dark aspects with some lighter fare (like Kelly dressing up as a clown last week), but the other stuff going on (the attack on Christina, the investigation into Renata, Christina, & Tom, and Morrissey drinking and losing control) just really is so dark and overwhelming to everything else. It’s still a great show, don’t get me wrong. It’s just so heavy that I’m not sure how much more I can take. Still, tonight is the last episode with guest star Bill Engvall, so I’m really interested in seeing how that story plays out.

Tonight, Christina gets to test her maternal instincts when she and Tom spend the day watching Miles’ children. Bobbie gets to spend some time in front of the camera. An Internal Affairs detective continues to question Renanta.
