If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/19/11

Well, people going to Comic-Con are on their way to San Diego. I’m so jealous, it’s not even funny. I’ve already been promised that a contact of mine will be giving Christopher Gorham a hug for me in the Covert Affairs press room. 😉 Speaking of Covert Affairs & Chris Gorham, don’t miss the great new Q&A with the man himself. It’s posted HERE. It’s all about tonight’s new episode, so check it out, and then check out what we recommend (besides that show. 😉 ) you watch tonight below.

I’m so excited that you guys get to watch tonight’s episode of Covert Affairs. In preparation for my conference call with Chris Gorham last week (see above!), I got to watch the episode early, and I have to say, it’s one of my favorites of the series so far. Gorham is so great in every episode of the show, but tonight, he is brilliant. I heard a good while back that we would be getting an episode that dealt solely with Auggie’s back story, and tonight is that episode. We get a good bit of Annie in the episode, a tiny bit of Joan, but for the most part, the episode is all Auggie, all the time. He does an amazing job playing a sighted Auggie in addition to playing the blind character we are used to watching. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. If you do, please Tweet @Chris_Gorham and let him know!

On tonight’s episode, while attending a jazz festival in the city of Istanbul, Auggie finds himself face-to-face with the man who blinded him, and decides to pursue him alone. Annie is able to uncover revealing information about Auggie’s past. Rebecca Mader (No Ordinary Family, Lost) guest stars.

Do NOT miss the new episode tonight on USA Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Covert Affairs @ Clicker.

When fashion takes center stage, the Pretty Little Liars find themselves in a bit over their heads. After last week’s funeral for Ian, I don’t think the ladies are prepared for what’s in store for them. Plus, with the death of Ian, does this mean that the ban their parents put in place on hanging out together is over for the Liars? Will life for them begin to go back to the way it was, or is A just lying in wait, ready for his or her next move?

Tonight on the eve of the Rosewood Charity Fashion Show, Emily, Aria, Spencer, and Hanna get a shocking surprise with Jessica DiLaurentis’ (guest star Andrea Parker) return to town and her request that they all participate in the show on Alison’s behalf. Aria decides to take the opportunity to try and help jog Jason’s memory about the night Ali disappeared. Hanna starts to get her hopes up that her father’s attendance may mean more than he is letting on. Spencer learns that while she’s been dealing with larger issues, Mona (Janel Parrish) has stepped in and taken charge of running the big event. Plus, as the charity event draws closer, walking down a runway in expensive gowns may not seem that hard, but viewers will soon find out that nothing is ever easy for the Liars. Meanwhile, Emily decides to reevaluate her stance on casual dating with Samara, when it looks like Samara may be dating someone else.

To mix things up, for the next few days, my picks are going to be some of the other shows that I watch regularly that aren’t usually covered here.

Tonight, if the Fox line-up hasn’t satiated your appetite for cooking competition shows, then switch over to the Food Network and catch Chopped. Each week, four chefs compete for $10K by cooking three courses using mystery ingredients. The winner is the chef who survives the appetizer and entree rounds and wins the dessert round. For each course, the contestants are given a basket of mystery ingredients and a very short amount of time in which to cook. Then the judges “chop” one of the chefs from the competition. It’s amazing what these chefs are able to come up with using the obscure ingredients and with so little time! Since there is so much scripted TV on Tuesdays, I usually end up watching this the next day while eating my lunch (which pales in comparison to what these chefs cook).

In tonight’s episode, “Ladies First!”, there are outrageous ingredients in the first round, sherry in the entree, & vegetables in the dessert round.

Check out what might be a new show for you tonight on Food Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Chopped @ Clicker.

Every week, I tune in to MasterChef, and every week, I am amazed at the creativity some of these amateurs show during the mystery box challenges. Then again, every week, I’m also amazed by the mess others make with their dishes. I’m glad that Suzy got a small taste of humble pie last week, and I hope that these home cooks can continue to step it up in the kitchen and give us a great competition to watch.

On tonight’s episode, the top 10 chefs compete, and we’ll see who is left standing at the end of tonight.

Tune in to FOX at 9/8c, right after an all new Hell’s Kitchen. Learn where to find episodes online of Hell’s Kitchen @ Clicker.

Last week on Memphis Beat, Dwight learned from his mother that his dad had indeed taken bribes when he was a cop, but he also learned that he’d done it because everyone did it and that he’d never spent a dime of it. Sure, that seems like a cheesy excuse, but once Dwight thought about it, he realized his dad had been in kind of an impossible position. It was nice to see the highly emotional storyline between Dwight and Paula. It was also great to see Whitehead and the Lieutenant coming to an understanding about how she views him and how he does his job. I really love Lieutenant Rice (and Alfre Woodard, who plays her), and I wasn’t sure how much I was going to when we first met her. But she fits in well with the cast and truly cares.

On tonight’s episode, Paula calls on Dwight to help one of his oldest friends, who has been arrested in a case involving three gunmen who robbed a party boat. Dwight’s investigation brings him face to face with an old flame and gives him a chance to perform with one of his old band members from his high school days.

  1. Jenny says:

Kyle, I love Chopped. I’ve seen every episode. 😀

  2. Kyle says:

I’ve also seen them all–almost missed their 5-part showdown because they changed the name and my season pass didn’t record it–good thing for reruns! 🙂

  3. Megan says:

I would try to hug Chris for you, but I think I may get escorted out by security 😉

On the note about Chopped, we don’t always get the new episodes here in Canada right away 🙁 Sometimes being Canadian isn’t the best thing. lol

  4. Jenny says:

    *snicker* Too bad. 😉
