If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/5/11

It’s Friday, and I have to say, I’m glad. It’s been kind of a long week, what with family visiting last weekend and other family coming this weekend. It’s also only 11 days until my kid goes back to school, so that’s exciting. 😀 lol I love Fridays right now, because there are a couple of great shows on my must see list. What about you? Read on to find out our picks for tonight!

Last week was kind of a heart breaking episode of Haven. That’s the saddest thing about this show for me sometimes…that the “troubled” people get screwed sometimes. Sure, there are people who take advantage of the “troubles,” but then there are the innocents who have to deal with it all. Lewis was stuck in Haven for the rest of his life to control the machines. Poor guy. Then we saw the craziness surrounding Audrey #2, when she looked into the mysterious shack, lost her memories, and left Haven after our Audrey filled her in on what she didn’t remember. Is Agent Howard behind it? I’m sure he is. Will we find out more, especially this season? I doubt it.

On tonight’s episode, Audrey and Nathan launch an investigation into a dangerous series of electrocutions that have been randomly occurring around town. Jason Priestly and WWE’s Edge guest star.

Tonight, NBC is starting what I’m assuming is a burn-off of one of their unaired mid-season properties, Friends With Benefits. Not to be confused with the recent film of the same name, this series centers on two best friends, Sara (Danneel Harris, One Tree Hill) and Ben (Ryan Hanson, Party Down, Veronica Mars), who carry on a casual physical relationship as they search for love. From the clips, it looks like this will be a light, fun romantic comedy from the creators of 500 Days of Summer that will be good replacement for those who enjoyed Love Bites or Mad Love.

In the pilot episode, when Ben needs a date to his sister’s wedding, Sara worries the arrangement is too serious. And in tonight’s second episode, “The Benefit of the Mute Button,” when Sara starts dating a co-worker, she and Ben bring their physical relationship to a halt; Aaron realizes he is taking his relationship with Riley more seriously than she is.

Fridays are usually a slow night for me, but Flashpoint is one of the shows that gives me something to look forward to watching. I love how they are really taking the time to develop the characters outside of the team atmosphere this season. Besides the great character development, the cases are getting more intense week to week, and if you haven’t started watching yet, you should.

On tonight’s episode, Wordy’s career is threatened, and the team’s mission to bring down a drug ring risks being compromised when a department secret is revealed.

Tune in to CBS at 8/7c to see how the team survives this next shake up. Learn where to find episodes online of Rookie Blue @ Clicker.

Kyle’s Choice #2

While I have only seen a few episodes of Phineas and Ferb with my nieces, I really enjoyed what I saw. The show does a great job of mixing in jokes for adult viewers while still entertaining the youngsters. Tonight is the premiere of Phineas and Ferb: Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. This 90-minute feature-length special finds Phineas and Ferb accidentally helping Dr. Doofenshmirtz with his invention, which takes them to a parallel dimension. There, they discover Perry’s double life as a secret agent, and must team up with their alternate dimension selves in order to stop an even more menacing alternate Dr. Doofenshmirtz. It sounds like this will be a fun, epic adventure that I can’t wait to watch.

Tune in tonight on the Disney Channel at 8/7c for the 90-minute TV movie. Learn where to find episodes online of Phineas and Ferb @ Clicker.

Phineas and Ferb? I’m not sure how I feel about that show, but I’m sure my daughter will want to watch the movie.

The P&F movie sounds cool–like a Phineas and Ferb version of Fringe season 3 🙂
My oldest brother already saw a preview in the theater last weekend with his kids and they all enjoyed it. My twin had got us some tickets to see it during SDCC (he tried to get into the P&F panel but was shut out by 10 people). Since the “nighttime” showing of the movie at SDCC was at 5pm, we skipped it–too many panels we’d rather see.
