If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/8/11

Last night was the beginning of a new week, and what a night of television it was! The season finale of Falling Skies was brilliant, answering a lot of questions and raising even more. There were other great episodes, too, so overall, it was a fantastic night. Tonight has just as many great shows on, so it looks to be just as promising! What do we think you should be watching? You might be surprised. 😉 Read on to find out!

Last week was another great episode of Eureka, but when is it not?! The most surprising part, of course, was actually finding out for sure and witnessing Beverly Barlow in control of Allison—body and mind. She began losing blocks of time, and it turned out to be the same device that had affected the bank messing with the implants on Allison’s brain. When Carter fixed the problem at the bank, Beverly was able to full control Allison. VERY creepy stuff! I hope they figure this out SOON! I don’t like it when bad guys mess with the cool people of Eureka!

Jo and Zoe get together for a visit, and they return to Eureka, only to find the entire town incapacitated and communications cut off. Ming Na guest stars.

Hmm, yesterday I recommended a show about a meth manufacturer and today, I’m recommending a show about a pot dealing dysfunctional family. Honest, I cannot personally relate to these characters! 🙂 Last week on Weeds, after 3 seasons, Heylia returned. She has reestablished her pot farm, with added security measures, after Nancy destroyed her growhouse at the end of the third season. Meanwhile, Andy tried to get Doug’s company to fund his Norwegian bike business, and when that failed, Shane offered to help. I had forgotten just how much I missed Heylia until she reappeared last week—she is such a great character, and no one else stands up to Nancy the way she does! I am also finding Shane’s story a lot of fun–seeing him attend police academy lectures by day, while using his school loan money to back a drug front business for Andy by night. The Botwin family is so messed up, but they are so much fun to watch! Season 7 of Weeds has been a return to the dark (but not depressing) comedy of the early seasons, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it!

In tonight’s episode, “Vehement v. Vigorous,” while Doug plays softball with the company team, Nancy deals pot on the sidelines; Andy opens his bike shop while Silas sells pot out of the back room; and a police detective offers Shane an internship.

The final season of The Closer has not disappointed! Kyra Sedgwick as Brenda Lee Johnson and the rest of the cast have brought the drama! In a show that tackles such action packed cases and heartwrenching storylines, Kyra Sedgwick knows how to provide power that has viewers on the edge of their seat week after week. Tonight will be no different, so make sure you’re glued to your couch, because The Closer is a show that won’t disappoint.

Tonight on The Closer, the squad investigates the death of a minister that has a scandalous secret. Also, members of the Major Crimes Unit receive subpoenas in relation to the civil suit against the Los Angeles Police Department.

I can’t say enough good things about Warehouse 13 and it’s new season. The addition of Steve Jinks has been great and much more smooth than I’d anticipated. He and Claudia work perfectly together. Last week, we met Pete’s ex-wife and learned a little more about his past. That’s the sign of a great show, in my opinion—where even in season 3, we learn new things about the characters. Tonight’s episode should be good, because Myka’s favorite villian (*snort*), H.G. Wells, is back!

Pete, Myka, and H.G. Wells are able to locate an elusive artifact that has been sought after by three generations of agents at the Warehouse. The team must save a baseball stadium full of citizens whose lives are being threatened by an artifact.

Teen Wolf is the break out hit of the summer, and it’s really getting intense. I found it stressful to watch the sexy Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) chained up at the end of the last episode. I really hope that Allison can talk sense into her crazy aunt. On a bright note, I was really proud of Scott (Tyler Posey) for showing the strength of character to rush to the rescue of Jackson (Colton Haynes). That was a hero building moment. This first season has set the bar high for suspense and character development. Let’s hope that they can keep it up next season, too.

On tonight’s episode, it’s time for the winter formal at the school, and Scott is struggling to protect both his friends and enemies. He’s also trying to keep his secret safe from Allison.

When you were younger, did you watch Sister, Sister in the mid to late 90s on ABC & the WB? The show starred twin sisters, Tia and Tamera Mowry, about twins who had been adopted into different families. When they were teenagers, they found each other, and one sister and her mother and the other sister and her father all moved in together so the girls could get to know one another. Like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Blossom, and shows like that, Sister, Sister was a show that kids and adults could enjoy. I quite enjoyed it myself. Even Josh liked the reruns (he wasn’t born until 1998, so…). Now, Tia and Tamera are all grown up (God, I feel old!) and both are preparing for life changing events, as they film their new show, Tia & Tamera. Tamera is getting married, and Tia is having a baby! Oh, how time flies!

On tonight’s series premiere, as Tamera’s wedding approaches, Tia’s unborn baby prepares for its own special day, causing Tia to miss some of her maid of honor duties and leading Tamera to consider replacing Tia with her best friend, Andrea, in the wedding party.

Rizzoli & Isles fans know that the second season of their favorite show is quickly becoming one of summer’s hottest shows. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander have some of the best chemistry with each other that has ever been shown on TV. The storylines are real and touching, yet infuse some humor and levity that make a great balancing act. Make sure you sit down and have yourself a heaping spoon full of Rizzoli & Isles. I’m sure Maura would say it is doctor’s orders!

Tonight, both Jane and Maura investigate when a baseball coach is found dead in a locker room, and Tommy finally returns home after he has been released from jail.

  1. Tv Turk says:

I wonder if they are having a time jump on Weeds because Silas is supposed to be staying with Heylia until the next harvest is ready? Unless he will be flying back and forth a lot. I hope they bring Conrad back too. I miss seeing that character and all the drama between him, Nancy, and Heylia. Also I can’t wait until the next season of Falling Skies. It reminds me of the Lost cliffhanger with the hatch and waiting to see what was in there. Those 10 foot tall aliens look spooky and I can’t wait to see what happens with Tom and finding out what they want.

  2. Kyle says:

I hope we do see Conrad back as well, but I’m not sure how the filming of this season overlapped with No Ordinary Family, so he may not have been able to do it. As for a time jump–perhaps–that would also give Andy time to renovate and build his bike shop without having that take up the rest of he season.
