If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/16/11

It’s here, it’s here! School has officially begun for my family. What that means for me is my schedule may get flipped and stay flipped for a while. haha During the school year, I tend to be awake at night, and then go to sleep after my kid leaves for school, waking up just before he gets home late in the afternoon (like at 4:15…). Fun stuff! Why I sleep better during the day, I couldn’t tell you. I just know I usually do! Anyway, that leaves me a lot of time at night to work, write, beta—and catch up on great TV, which is important, since we’re coming up on the new Fall season! Eek! But for tonight, there’s some great things on, so check out what we think you should be watching!

My pick tonight is the season finale of Memphis Beat. Last week’s episode was so great. I loved seeing Dwight and Whitehead away from the precinct. The case they ended up working on reminded me of Clue, where the murderer was someone IN THE HOUSE! lol I dunno, I just really enjoyed it. But honestly, the best part of the episode was seeing Lt. Rice, Sutton, and Greenback working together to figure out who the guy was in the drunk tank and how he got there, since he seemed a little… out of it and unable to remember anything. It was heartbreaking when he remembered little snatches of information, and so heartwarming at the end when his sister—who they finally figured out who she was and somehow were able to get in touch with her—came to pick him up. It turned out that he was a bi-polar schizophrenic and had been missing from wherever he was living for five days. The other great part about last week was the inclusion of Paula Ann, Dwight’s mother. She ended up braving the storm to bring Dwight and his co-workers some sandwiches and stayed when the storm was too bad to go back out into. She fixed the generator on her own, got Joe/Ronnie the “prisoner” to remember the first thing, and just as she always does when she’s on screen, made me laugh, shake my head, and wish my mom were more like she is.

Tonight is the season finale and there’s no word yet on renewal. I have my fingers crossed. It would be a crying shame if this show got canceled! It’s not perfect (then again, what on TV nowadays is?!), but I adore it.

On tonight’s episode, when a girl from one of two feuding families is found shot, Dwight must do everything he can to make sure no more blood is shed. Back at the station, Dwight has trouble separating his love life from his job, when Davey and Greenback discover he has a new girlfriend and make it their personal mission to include her in an upcoming birthday party. Amy Madigan (Fringe, Grey’s Anatomy, Carnivale) & Lance Henriksen guest star.

Last night’s MasterChef was almost perfect for me, because I would have loved for Christian to go home before Suzy, but either one going home is a good thing. I was extremely happy when Adrien and Jennifer’s team won the challenge, putting them both in the final 3. It was really ironic that Suzy lost on a pastry challenge, considering she raves about her pastry. 🙂 Goodbye, Suzy. You won’t be missed!

Now, let’s talk about tonight’s episode, where two of my favorites (Adrien and Jennifer) will battle Christian in the two hour season finale, to see who will be named the MasterChef. I’m okay with anyone but Christian, but who are you rooting for?

Rosewood and relationships seemingly just don’t mix! Now that A has put a damper on Emily’s love life, and Caleb has headed off to California to be with his mom, it looks like A has two down and two to go. Misery, and A, love company, so maybe Spencer and Aria will find themselves in a similar sinking ship very soon. After tonight, there are only two new episodes until the mid season finale, so don’t miss one shocking moment after another on Pretty Little Liars.

Tonight, Aria finds herself between a rock and a hard place when trying to process Spencer and Emily’s news about Jason, along with dealing with what happened at the park and her clearly undeniable attraction to him. As Aria teeters on the fence about Jason, Spencer decides it’s time to take some drastic measures, but will they help Aria see Jason the way Spencer does, or push Aria closer to him? Hanna finds herself in her own prickly situation when she tries to play nice with her future step-sister, Kate, only to have everything blow up.

Flipping Out has turned into The Apprentice over these last couple of episodes! First, Sarah gets the “You’re fired” two weeks ago, and then Trace was let go last week! At this rate, Jeff is going to have no one left working for him by the end of the season! It looks like Stacey is back tonight. This woman must be the only person on Earth who hates Jenni! I just can’t comprehend how anyone could dislike Jenni (who
seems like one of the nicest and funniest people) let alone the degree to which Stacey loathes her! Whatever her reason, it makes for great TV to see everyone else baffled by this as well. So I’m really looking forward to another hilarious episode.

In tonight’s episode, “Showdown at Sunshine Terrace,” Jeff has to decide what’s more important—keeping his client happy or protecting the few loyal employees he has left.

Was so happy with the bottom 2 for last night’s MasterChef. though I don’t understand how it happened. It seemed like the judges only had negative things to say about the other team. Then all of a sudden they unanimously vote to keep them after Chef Ramsay says he was glad to see a harmonious team.
Another thing I don’t understand is how these chefs who don’t bake can even produce something resembling what they need to make. Baking requires precise measurement and unless they have a recipe in their head, how are they able to do this? I wonder if they give them off-camera tips/recipes to help them for these baking challenges.
Christian is such an arrogant, disgusting person. I really hope he doesn’t win tonight. He is the complete opposite of last year’s winner!

LOL We are wondering about the whole “How did Christian make a pie he’s never made before and win?” thing. heh
