If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/19/11

TGIF! TGIF! TGIF! Did you chant with me? No? Well, that’s awkward. 🙂 I am so excited for the weekend, because it means my husband is home to help wrangle the kids and to help with all this packing. Have I mentioned how much I despise packing? It’s tedious, exhausting, and I wish I had a magic wand to make it go faster. The only thing that’s been getting me through it the past few nights has been watching TV while I pack. Tonight is no different, so let’s see what’s on.

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Flashpoint on this site, and it’s well deserved. This is one of the few police dramas that has strong cases every week, along with great character building moments. I also enjoy the new member of the team, Raff. He’s super easy on the eyes. So smooth. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, torn from his dying father’s bedside, Spike joins Team One to face their largest bomb threat yet, but realizes the only way to diffuse the bomb is to get inside the dangerous mind of its creator.

Find out what happens and if Spike can make it back to his dad in time tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Flashpoint @ Clicker.

I am almost totally unhappy with the direction writers are taking Haven. Last week, Audrey and Chris were headed on their first date, when they got caught in some troubles at the site of a wedding, which ended with the two of them kissing and undressing one another, falling into Audrey’s bed. Of course, that happened right at the same time Nathan finally realized he did indeed have feelings for her! Grrrr! I’m so frustrated! The case, I enjoyed, as I always do. It was interesting that the conflict between the heads of rival families was what was causing the freaky tree roots to kill people and trap the group—including Audrey, Chris, Duke, and Evi—in the barn. Speaking of Duke and Evi… I KNEW she was up to no good! Who was she talking to at the end?? What do they have to keep pushing Duke for?! Eek! By the way, for more info on tonight’s episode and upcoming episodes, check out Megan’s great Q&A with Emily Rose (Audrey) here: Emily Rose Interview.

On tonight’s episode, Audrey re-experiences the same horrible day but cannot stop the catastrophe that comes to her and her friends.

See if Audrey can live up to the standards Bill Murray set with Groundhog Day tonight on Syfy at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Haven @ Clicker.

I really enjoyed last week’s series premiere of Strike Back. Despite the (most likely Skinemax-induced) gratuitous sex and nudity, it remained faithful to the original UK series look and feel and even managed to amp up the action. Strike Back feels like MI-5/Spooks mixed with a duo of American and British Jack Bauers. Is there anything these two guys can’t do?!

In tonight’s episode (which Cinemax made available online following the premiere), Scott and Stonebridge discover the identity of Mahmood as the hotel siege in New Delhi escalates. This episode was even better than the premiere. It felt like your typical action film, with lots of guns, running, plot twists and excitement. There was at least one sequence that was so over-the-top that it had me laughing out loud! I like that this show can be both lighthearted and serious at the same time. I definitely found my new Friday night show!

Check it out tonight on Cinemax at 10/9c! Learn where to find episodes online of Strike Back @ Clicker.
