If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/25/11

Thursday just keeps looking better and better! Seems like with all of the natural disasters that have occurred, and the ones supposedly that will occur, we all could use a great escape from weather and other related incidents. Thankfully, there is a whole set of new episodes of some fantastic shows that will take your mind off anything happening outside and get you into weekend mode.

Last week on Burn Notice, Michael and Sam interrogated Lucien, the bomb maker—a man who they believe has some insight into who framed him for murder. He was shot and killed, but fortunately, Michael was able to get him to give up the name of the other man responsible before he died. Michael also helped Fiona and Jesse, who set out originally to solve the case of a stalker—but ended up HELPING the stalker and getting back at the man who ruined his life and stole something of importance in regards to business from him—as well as his woman, who was now the other man’s wife. Things are still tense between Michael and Fi, but I have faith that Michael will stop making her feel like he’s taking her for granted.

On tonight’s episode, Michael infiltrates a group of hijackers in order to help Jesse with a security job, but the mission takes a turn when the group take hostages at an airport. Madeline, meanwhile, tries to lead the hostages to safety.

How do I love Rookie Blue? Let me count the ways! I adore the cast, the story arcs, the character development, and so much more. Last week’s episode had me just gaping at the screen. Dov acting wonky because of an allergic reaction to the painkillers was classic. Unfortunately, he took that moment to declare his love for Gail, by basically telling her he’d marry her. It was a sweet scene, but I was upset, because I really enjoy Chris and Gail together. My heart broke for Chris when he saw Dov and Gail sitting in the car together, ignoring his calls. Ouch. It was a good episode, but it set a story in motion that’s going to take us on a lot of twists and turns.

On tonight’s episode, a kidnapper is pursued by the 15th Division, and Andy helps a woman who was injured in an auto accident. Meanwhile, Chris and Dov have an altercation over an indiscretion involving Gail. *sigh*

Tonight is the season finale of Expedition Impossible. Last week, it was amazing to see No Limits beat the Cops in a footrace to the finish line. This is the team with a blind guy and another guy in a cast! There is no logical reason they should even still be in this race! The final four are the Gypsies, Fab 3, the Football Players, and No Limits. While I think it would be amazing to see a team like No Limits win, I will be rooting for Fab 3.

The one thing that upset me last week was the way the Gypsies and Fab 3 both gave the answer to the puzzle to other teams. With such few teams left, it seems really stupid to be giving the other teams answers, helping them keep up! I was surprised that didn’t come back to bite them.

In tonight’s episode, “And Then There Were Four,” the remaining teams arrive in Marrakech, where one team takes the top prize.

I will echo everything Megan said about Rookie Blue. I, too, love Chris and Gail together. He makes her more human and likeable, and she makes him a bit more take-charge and … I don’t know if I want to say manly, but … yeah. Plus, I loved Dov’s date with bomb girl, so I’m sad it seems like the show may be breaking Gail and Chris up and making Dov the cause of it. Dov needs to suck it up and keep himself out of their relationship. Bleh. On the other hand, I’m loving where I think they are taking the Sam & Andy relationship, and WOW! What about Frank & Noelle and that kiss?! Last week was good, but this week… Well, I’d suggest you hold on, because it sounds like it’s going to be a VERY bumpy ride!

On tonight’s episode, in the course of pursuing a kidnapper, Andy and Swarek come upon a terrible accident with a woman pinned in her car. While Swarek tracks the missing child and his kidnapper, Andy stays behind with the critically injured woman. The rest of the 15th Division gets in the chase to catch the kidnapper, but Chris comes to blows with Dov over an indiscretion involving Gail. Meanwhile, Andy is galvanized to take bold action when she realizes life may be passing her by while she is making other plans.
