My first pick tonight is the season premiere of The Mentalist on CBS. Up until now, it’s been all about Patrick Jane finding Red John, the man who killed his wife and daughter. The last couple of episodes were crazy good. We found out Grace’s fiance, Craig, was the mole. He went with Grace to see Hightower, and was going to kill her. He shot Lisbon, which forced Grace to shoot and kill him. Lisbon was wounded, but okay. Meanwhile, Jane was at the mall at a table in the food court. He asked Lisbon to hit redial on Craig’s phone, and when a phone rang on a table in front of a man near Jane, we knew that was Red John. (That was Bradley Whitford, by the way, from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip & The West Wing.) After talking for a bit, with Red John giving Jane details about his wife and daughter and how they smelled, Red John started to walk away. Jane called him back, and then shot him in the stomach. Then he sat back down at the table and continued sipping his tea. W-T-F?! Where do you go from there?? … Prison, of course!

On tonight’s premeire, in prison for killing his nemesis, Patrick Jane must prove that the man he shot really was Red John. Meanwhile, Lisbon urges Van Pelt to seek counseling in the aftermath of the death of her fiance, Detective O’Laughlin.

I am so unbelievably excited for the season premiere of The Big Bang Theory, it’s actually scary. 😉 Seeing the cast at the San Diego Comic Con only helped to fuel my love for them. Tonight, our favorite band of merry geeks get back to dealing with theories and romantic issues. I’ll be watching as Penny and Raj work out their awkward views on their night of drunken sex. In fact, I’m going to put on my Sheldon t-shirt from Comic Con that reads “I cry because people are stupid. That makes me sad.” and watch the hour long premiere.

In the fifth season opener, Penny hits a low point when she realizes what she’s done by sleeping with Raj, and Sheldon becomes the leader of the paintball team. In the second instalment, Penny and Sheldon clash, and Amy is caught in the middle of their battle. Leonard looks for ways to keep his long-distance romance with Priya alive.

Tonight, we kick off the third season of Community and introduce two great new guest stars—John Goodman and Michael K. Williams. If there’s one thing you can count on this show for, it’s going over-the-top, and it sounds like tonight’s opening sequence does just that, with a huge musical production! When we last saw the gang, Pierce’s future involvement in the study group seemed to be over. Will he be back? How will the new guest characters shake things up at Greendale? I’m looking forward to finding out tonight.

In tonight’s episode, “Biology 101,” the Greendale study group reunites, Jeff butts heads with the new Biology teacher, and Dean Pelton finds a new nemesis in the dean of the Air Conditioning Repair Annex.

One of the new shows that looks the most intense is Person of Interest on CBS. It stars Jim Caviezel (The PrisonerLost), and Taraji P. Henson (Boston Legal) in a crime thriller about a presumed dead former-CIA agent, Reese (Caviezel), who teams up with a mysterious billionaire, Finch (Emerson), to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. Reese’s special training in covert operations appeals to Finch, a software genius who invented a program that uses pattern recognition to identify people about to be involved in violent crimes. Using state-of-the-art surveillance technology, the two work outside of the law, using Reese’s adept skills and Finch’s unlimited wealth to unravel the mystery of the “person of interest” and stop the crime before it happens. Reese’s actions draw the attention of the NYPD, including homicide detective Carter (Henson), and Fusco, a cop whom Reese uses to his advantage. With infinite crimes to investigate, Reese and Finch find that the right person, with the right information, at the right time, can change everything.

On tonight’s episode, a former highly skilled covert CIA agent teams up with a wealthy billionaire software developer to find out whether a young prosecutor whose social security number drew up interest is the victim or a perpetrator of a future crime.

Grey’s Anatomy left all of our favorite characters with their lives full of changes at the end of last season. The most prominent are Meredith’s being fired and Christina’s pregnancy. We’re going to see Meredith deal with being a single mom, and April try to deal with the strong personalities that surround her. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. Are you ready?

As season 8 begins, Meredith faces the professional and personal consequences of tampering with Derek’s clinical trial. Alex isn’t off the hook, either. He’ll face some consequences, as well. Christina and Owen will deal with the unexpected pregnancy in their own way.

Tonight is the fourth season premiere of Parks and Recreation, and if it’s even half as funny as last season, we are in for a treat! I was blown away by how hilarious the third season of the series was. Ron, April, Andy, & even Tom (who I wasn’t a fan of in the beginning) turned into some of my favorite characters on TV. I am really looking forward to the new season, as we will finally get to meet Ron’s mother (Tammy Zero) and first ex-wife (Tammy One).

In tonight’s episode, “I’m Leslie Knope,” Leslie must choose between Ben and her dream of running for office, Ann dispenses medical advice, and Ron gets ready for the return of Tammy One.

My third pick is the series premiere of Prime Suspect on NBC. Based on the critically acclaimed British television series of the same name, the show has been redeveloped for American audiences by writer Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives, NYPD Blue), director Peter Berg (NBC’s Friday Night Lights) — and stars Maria Bello (A History of Violence) as tough-as-nails Detective Jane Timoney. Timoney finds that being a homicide detective in New York City is tough enough and having to contend with a male-dominated police department to get respect makes it that much tougher. She’s an outsider who has just transferred to a new precinct dominated by an impenetrable clique of a boys’ club. Timoney has her own vices too — with a questionable past — and she tends to be forceful, rude and reckless. But she’s also a brilliant cop who keeps her eye on one thing: the prime suspect. Also starring are Aidan Quinn (Unknown), Brian O’Byrne (Flash Forward), Tim Griffin (Star Trek), Kirk Acevedo (Fringe), Joe Nieves (How I Met Your Mother), Damon Gupton (The Last Airbender) and Peter Gerety (Blue Bloods).

On tonight’s premiere, after getting a rough start in her New York homicide squad by asking questions about her colleagues’ work on a mysterious murder case, Jane complains to her lieutenant about not getting enough cases, and then finds a unique angle to solve a crime.
