If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/9/11

Tomorrow is our Canadian Thanksgiving, but today is the day my family is having our dinner. I plan on being full of turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie—and sleepy. My grand plan is to enjoy dinner, and then sit back and enjoy some great television, because tonight is full of it! Let’s take a look at what you should be watching.

Luckily, my choice tonight isn’t affected by the baseball finals that are on…I hate baseball. Tonight, I think you should be watching The Amazing Race, because after all these seasons, it still manages to deliver. I’ve been enjoying how they have been mixing it up this season, especially the double elimination. Ethan and Jenna, as well as Ron and Bill, were eliminated. It was like my dreams came true—both of those teams annoyed me. 🙂 Although the thing that was making me the most nuts was when people were losing out because they didn’t read the instructions on the sign. After that many years of watching The Amazing Race, people should know to always read EVERYTHING.

On tonight’s episode, “Don’t Lay Down on Me Now,” the race continues in Indonesia, where a mechanical problem leaves one team sidelined. Meanwhile, a confusing roadblock at an 8th Century Buddhist temple causes two rival duos to join forces to figure out the difficult mental challenge.

Also, don’t forget to record the CBS block of shows long because of football!

One of the most amazing dramas currently on TV is Against the Wall, and more people should be watching it! Lifetime has scored gold with this new show that’s captivated viewers and had them begging for a second season. Against the Wall packs the perfect Sunday night punch if you’re looking for something to keep you glued to your couch and that is worth staying up late for. Rachael Carpani and Marisa Ramirez have wonderful chemistry as IA partners who can double team like no other! Pack that with a lot of male eye candy in the form of handsome police officers played by Brandon Quinn and James Thomas! You can’t go wrong, because this police drama has something for everyone, including a beautiful family dynamic that will bring laughs, smiles, and tears, and it will draw you in for more episodes to come.

Tonight, Abby and Lina are sent to investigate when a young girl gets trampled during a brawl at a wedding. Also, Don recognizes Mackie’s new man as someone who has a shady past.

I know a lot of people don’t like Boston Rob, but I have to say, even if you don’t, you should check out his new show, Around the World in 80 Ways. My almost 14-year-old son, husband, & I really loved the premiere last week. It was fun watching Rob & Dennis (Rob’s co-host, and dude who came up with the monster truck, Gravedigger) argue and snipe at each other. It was also fun watching them try to figure out their next mode of transportation. They were going to Lake Titicaca and riding on this bus along this REALLY scary road (like…nearly an IRT: Deadliest Roads road), and when they had to chance to get off the bus and take a short cut, they found out they had to go down 3 separate zip lines. Once Dennis got over that fear (and he really enjoyed the first two!) and they’d both done the first 2 lines, they had to go down the side of a mountain on ladders—which looked like rickety old normal ladders—that had just been nailed to the cliff! It was quite scary, especially for Dennis, who is quite the big guy, especially compared to Rob. But they finally made it to their first destination. Anyway, it’s a fun show. 😀

On this week’s episode, “The Boys from Ipanema,” while trekking through parts of Brazil, like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Dennis and Rob utilize farm harvesters, railroad handcarts, ostriches, a protest, and a motorized window-washing scaffold to travel, and a bet has painful terms.

Check it out tonight on History Channel at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Around the World in 80 Ways @ Clicker.

I am so excited for tonight’s season finale of Breaking Bad. This season has had me constantly changing my allegiances—initially, I was on Team Walt, then I switched to Team Gus when he took out the Cartel, but last week, I rejoined Team Walt/Jessie, when it looked like Gustavo had poisoned the son of Jesse’s girlfriend just to drive a wedge between Walt and Jesse. My heart was pounding during last week’s episode. I felt like I was right there on the rooftop with Walter, stressing out, waiting to see whether or not Gus was going to get in the vehicle Walt had rigged to blow. This has been such an amazing season, and I can’t wait to be shocked by where they leave us hanging tonight! Will Gus finally be taken down? Will Walt’s secret be discovered? What happened to Ted? It’s going to be a really long wait for next year’s final season.

On tonight’s episode, “Face Off,” as Walt and Jesse’s professional relationship with Gus has rapidly been brought to a breaking point amid distrust and violence, they decide to try and take him on. Saul offers to help Walt, who is surprised to discover an unexpected ally.

Pan Am has transfixed viewers, not just with the beautiful actresses who play the stewardesses, but also the amazing historical moments that get to play out on screen. It fosters so many deep memories for those who grew up during those eventful times and shows those who weren’t images of what it was like during those times. Pan Am is amazing nostalgia that provides for must see TV on Sunday nights. This show is a great watch for families, because you can soar to new heights with the drama, intrigue, and a lot of scandal. Last episode, Collette and Dean got closer with one another, while Maggie got in hot water when a passenger thought she should be a little more hands on with him. Laura and Kate got a surprise visit in flight from their mother, who really just wanted to be reunited with her estranged daughters. Also, Kate got another surprise visit in the form of a missing Bridget. You won’t want to miss a moment of this new Sunday night fixure.

On tonight’s episode, Maggie intends to meet President Kennedy when the crew flies to Berlin with journalist that are sent to cover his speech. Meanwhile, painful memories force Collette to confront her tragic past.

I like CSI: Miami, even if it isn’t the smartest or coolest show on the block. But really, I’m recommending it tonight because the promo last week looked awesome. I live in Kansas, which is part of Tornado Alley, so a show like this, set in Miami, Florida, featuring a tornado? I kinda feel like I have to watch. Plus, Ryan gets sucked out into the funnel! OMG! He’s one of the only reasons I continue to watch this show, so he better be ok!

On tonight’s episode, a devestating tornado touches down upon an open-aired murder scene, and the chaos that results from the incident leads to damaged crucial evidence, as well as Walter and Ryan being put in a situation of life-threatening danger.
