If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/18/11

Did everyone’s week get off to a good start? Mine did, but how could it not with the great television we have on Mondays? Tuesdays are a creature of another sort. It’s a night of pure insanity for my DVR. What about you? What can’t you miss tonight? Read on for suggestions and opinions.

Tonight is the season premiere of Flashpoint, and it’s a must see episode. I’m super lucky, because I’ve already seen a bunch of the new season, and they’ve outdone themselves. I love the character development on the show, and for a procedural, it spends lots on time on the relationships our characters have. I adore Jules with Sam, and I hope that they find a way for them to be together without breaking up the team. The show has switched from CBS to ION, so to find the right channel for you, look on their website.

On tonight’s season premiere, “Grounded,” as Parker negotiates with desperate hijackers, the rest of Team One prepares for the worst with a tactical response that will try not to get anyone killed.

To welcome your favorite swat team back, tune in to ION at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Flashpoint @ Clicker.

I’m a CBS girl tonight, and I couldn’t be happier about it. So rather than pick them in any different order, I’m going in order of time. 🙂 So first up, I’m recommending NCIS. I love this show, because the team feels much like a family a lot of times. The characters all care about one another, and it shows. From the relationship between Abby and Gibbs (personally, I’m a Gabby shipper, but I know a lot feel like they have a father/daughter relationship), to the chemistry between Tony and Ziva, to the friendship between Ducky and Gibbs, it all works. Last week, Abby found out suddenly she had a brother, and Abby being Abby, she did some research and figured out further than it wasn’t her brother that had been adopted out…She had been. Who did she go to for comfort? Gibbs, of course. No matter how you view their relationship, that was a great, great moment at the end fo last week’s episode.

Tonight, on “Safe Harbor,” when a Coast Guard officer is gunned down on a Cargo vessel, the NCIS team searches for the killer, but finds a Lebanese family seeking refuge on American soil, instead. Tony and McGee try and find the perfect woman for Gibbs to date. Diane Neal (Law & Order: SVU) guest stars.

What a tense episode of Sons of Anarchy last week! Juice grew more and more guilty while watching the testing of the prospects. He tried to anonymously return the drugs, but was caught doing so by a fellow club member. He was forced to kill the eyewitness in order to shift the blame. It was fun to see that the club was using mind tricks to intimidate the prospects into admission of guilt, instead of actually putting them in harm’s way. However, when they were doing the Russian Roulette test, I half-expected to see someone blow their brains out. This is what’s great about this show—you always expect the unexpected!

In tonight’s episode, “Fruit for the Crows,” SAMCRO deals with the fallout from a death threat on Tara.

Last week’s Ringer episode was a total game changer. No one could have seen that ending coming. The episode started with Juliet coming back into town after she was supposed to be at her mother’s. Instead, she tried to get under Bridget/Siobhan’s skin. Then again, when is she not? Someone else who tried to do that was Gemma, who Bridget revealed her secret to. Gemma tried to blackmail Bridget into helping her keep her kids or she’d expose Bridget’s secret to Siobhan’s husband, Andrew. Unfortunately, at the end of the episode, Gemma disappeared, and all we saw was a lot of blood left over and Henry cleaning up the mess. Looks like someone’s hands are going to be dirty for a quite a while!

Tonight, Bridge worries when she can’t get in touch with Gemma. Also, a teacher at Juliet’s new school rescues her from a bully, and Bridget asks Charlie for a favor. Meanwhile, Agent Machado investigates Malcolm’s disappearance.

My second pick tonight is NCIS: LA. Speaking of relationships, they are definitely one of the best parts of this show, too. Of course, I’m a Deeks/Kensi shipper…but the friendship between Sam & Callen, the cemistry and friendship between Eric & Nell, and the relationship Hetty has with…well, everyone… It all adds up to a fun and entertaining show. The cases are always great, too. Last week, Callen found out more details from Hetty about her relationship with his mother. He didn’t seem like he had forgiven her for keeping all the stuff from him about his past. I’m sure he will soon, but it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.

On tonight’s episode, “Sacrifice,” the Los Angeles police department calls upon the NCIS team when a raid links a well-known Mexican drug cartel to a wanted terrorist. Sam has his most prized possession stolen from him, and he’s on a mission to get it back.

There are so many reasons to tune in to Body of Proof, and the fact that the main character’s name is Megan is only a bonus. I love the mystery, and the fact that Megan can’t help but delve deep into these people’s lives to solve the murders. The other great part is the way the cast works together… It’s a beautiful thing. Last week’s episode was my worst nightmare, with the body walking off the table just before an autopsy. Can you imagine? Freaky.

On tonight’s episode, Peter stumbles upon a house fire in progress before the fire department arrives and is able to rescue a young woman. When Megan goes to the scene of the fire, she discovers that there is another victim who perished in the fire. This dismays Peter, who didn’t know there was someone else in the house and now has a personal attachment to this case. As Megan begins her investigation, she is usurped by veteran arson investigator Ray Easton and his young colleague, Skip, who challenge her at every step. When Megan complains to her boss, Kate wryly remarks that people usually find Megan impossible to work with, and the tension between the two women heats up more.

Tonight is the series premiere of Man Up!. I watched a screener of this episode a few months ago. While I wasn’t blown away, I decided to give it a few more episodes to see where it goes. This show is another one of the three-relationship comedies we were overloaded with last season. This series centers around married family man Will (who at times reminded me a bit of Phil Dunphy), his brother-in-law Kenny, and his best friend Craig. The series felt a lot like Traffic Light, except instead of speaking on cell phones in their cars, the guys talk to each other via video game headsets.

In tonight’s premiere, Will is consumed with finding the perfect gift for his son’s birthday, and Craig crashes his ex-girlfriend’s wedding.

I’m enjoying Unforgettable. Is it my favorite? No. But still, I love Poppy Montgomery and Dylan Walsh playing off each other on the show. I’m hoping he’ll end things with his current gf and he & Carrie will get back together. I don’t know if they are planning that or not, but she’s not over him, that’s one thing that’s clear. Last week was pretty interesting, because all they had to go on were Carrie’s memories of the crime scene, considering the murderer caused the building to blow up to cover his tracks before anyone else could take a good look!

On tonight’s episode, “With Honor,” Al’s ex-partner is brutally gunned down, and the investigation reveals that he may have been a dirty cop with a shady past. Now, Carrie must decide how she’s going to support him without getting too emotionally close.
