On the last episode of The Vampire Diaries, Caroline was determined to see that Elena, Bonnie, Matt, and Tyler enjoy the traditonal Senior Prank Night before their most important school year begins. Some uninvited guests decided to show up, and it didn’t take long for things to turn deadly. Damon convinced Jeremy that he could use his brand new connection to the other side in order to help them try to find a way to defeat Klaus. Also, Klaus deepened his hold on Stefan and used him for some increasingly violent and very dangerous purposes.

Tonight, Elena and her friends start their senior year with their heads still spinning from all of the recent events. Damon is unhappy having a new houseguest, and Matt goes to Bonnie for some help. Also, Stefan works on his most recent task.

Last week on Person of Interest, Linda Cardellini was back. She was fantastic on ER, playing a nurse and single mother, and she was great last week, as the sister of a woman who had killed herself after being drugged and raped. When Reese and Finch finally figured out that Dr. Tillman (Cardellini) wasn’t the intended victim, but the intended killer, they were able to stop her. Also, the lady cop is getting closer and closer to finding Reese, especially after seeing the video of Reese and Finch talking during the robbery at the evidence locker a couple of weeks back.

On tonight’s episode, “Judgment,” when the Machine produces the social security number of a judge renowned for his tough sentencing, Reese and Finch have the added challenge of investigating a POI who wants nothing to do with their brand of vigilante justice.

First, I want to wish my niece, Morghan, a very happy 13th birthday! My first choice is sort of a present to her, because she loves The Big Bang Theory, almost as much as I do. Last week’s episode had Sheldon facing his arch nemesis, Wil Wheaton. It was really funny how Sheldon was putting pressure on Leonard not to go to Wil’s housewarming party, and then he ended up going himself. I loved how Wil gave Sheldon an action figure to make up for his past mistakes, and Sheldon forgave him. There isn’t a cast on television that I love more or find more amusing than this one.

On tonight’s episode, “The Rhinitis Revelation,” Sheldon’s mom visits, and he competes for her attentions, which seems more focused on his friends.

The League is off to a very funny start this season. Last week, the Jewish Ruxin was caught painting swastikas on his own street in order to get a pothole fixed, Andre discovered that the guys had loaned out his apartment for a porno shoot, and Kevin somehow managed to let everyone know that it was Jenny’s time of the month. Much like Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, each episode has multiple, seemingly disconnected, storylines that somehow manage to come together in some hilarious way. It’s great that this series is on cable, because it allows them to hold nothing back and just go wild. There is no way any network would allow Taco’s graphic and/or politically incorrect songs to ever go to air!

On tonight’s episode, “The Au Pair,” Ruxin hires a hot au pair (Brie Larson) for baby Geoffrey and fears that Taco will sleep with her, Andre explores online dating, and Kevin cheats on Jenny. ESPN fantasy-football guru Matthew Berry appears as himself.

Last week on The Secret Circle, Cassie was torn between her loyalties to the Circle and her own family. She wrestled with the secrets that she has been keeping from her grandmother. Nick was thrown for a loop when Melissa decided to adopt a new attitude and enlist his help to track down her family’s Book of Shadows. Faye was also recruited, but she wasn’t happy to be tagging along as a third wheel. Diana wanted some alone time with Adam and arranged a date night so that they could rekindle the spark between the two of them. Unfortunately, all six of the Circle members were brought together in order to fight off a dark force that threatened to destroy the Circle from within. Also, completely unaware of any new danger that approached their children, Dawn and Charlie set sail on his boat to further their plans for the Circle, but Dawn was surprised to find that Charles may have more than business on his mind.

On tonight’s episode, Faye’s ex-boyfriend shows up in town, and he has set his sights on Cassie. This leads Faye to plotting out, and executing, a little revenge on the guy who broke her heart.

Rules of Engagement was originally scheduled to premiere on Saturday, September 24. Then it was pushed back to Saturday, October 8. Then, when How to Be a Gentleman was canceled, CBS decided to move Rules of Engagement from Saturday and give it that prime Thursday slot after The Big Bang Theory. I’m happy about all the changes, even with the late premiere, because I quite enjoy the show. Is it the best comedy on TV? Nah, not by a long shot. But it makes me laugh every time I see it, so that makes it worth watching and recommending in my book.

On tonight’s season premiere, “Dirty Talk,” Russell tries to get out of his marriage to an overly enthused Liz (Wendi McLendon-Covey, Reno 911!) , who tries to make it work, while Jeff attempts to engage Audrey in dirty talk.

This season, Grey’s Anatomy has been really strong and super emotional. I don’t know what it is about kids and their parents this season, but having Mere and Derek last week trying to see their daughter before surgery was heart wrenching. I am also loving the way the whole cast is getting into each episode. It’s a nice change. We are getting to see more into each part of the hospital, and it’s working for the story quite well.

On tonight’s episode, “Poker Face,” Meredith is on the outs at the hospital, so she must enlist Lexie to get Derek interested in a brain-tumor case. Meredith also gives April advice in secret about Bailey’s clinical trial. Meanwhile, Arizona and Mark have finally become friends.

Last week on The Mentalist, we were introduced to the new head of the CBI, the young Special Agent Luther Wainwright (played by Michael Rady). I last saw Rady on Greek, so it’s a bit tough thinking of him as an adult who would be in charge of the CBI. However, his character is not the usual overbearing and demanding boss. Wainwright is closer to Sweets from Bones, an intelligent young man who likes to use games to read and gauge his reports. I think he will make for an interesting authority figure for Jane—someone younger who knows a few mind tricks of his own.

In tonight’s episode, “Blood and Sand,” when a body washes up on an island off the coast of California, the team is called in to investigate. Meanwhile, Rigsby has started dating a public defender and worries it may make it awkward.

Check it out tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mentalist @ Clicker.
