If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/9/11

It’s Hump Day! Congrats to making it to mid-week. We’re halfway through the week. If you haven’t figured out yet that I’m excited about that, I’ve been too subtle. 😉 Seriously, though, it’s another great night of TV, including some major guest stars on Psych and a visit to my home state on Criminal Minds, so check out what we think you should watch below!

Jenny’s Choice #1

Last week on Criminal Minds, we saw the resolution to Rossi’s storyline with his ex-wife. Caroline killed herself by taking too many pills, making it so Rossi didn’t have to watch her suffer and didn’t have to kill her himself. It was heartbreaking—especially the scene at the end in the cemetery, where we saw him at Caroline’s grave…along with the grave of a newborn baby, who I can only conclude was their son. I loved seeing this storyline for Rossi. I always love seeing personal stuff for the team members, which is good, since tonight’s episode shows us some personal stuff with JJ, Will, and Henry.

On tonight’s episode, “There’s No Place Like Home,” when a string of tornadoes hit Kansas, the BAU team is called to investigate bodies of young boys that turn up in the aftermath of the devastating storms. The pressures from work start to mount up for JJ on the home front.

Psych is bringing all the delicious flavor this season. Last week’s comic book-themed episode was off the pages funny and provided us with our very first nickname for Gus for the season. Those devoted Psych-os who live for those fun moments in Psych where Shawn gives Gus a good ribbing, which is just about all the time, were really tickled by last week’s episode. Who knows… maybe we’ll see another appearance from The Tap Man and The Catch in the near future! Til then, unleash your own inner superhero and be sure to watch an all new episode tonight!

Tonight, Psych knocks it out the park! After the hitting coach at Santa Barbara’s minor league baseball team mysteriously dies, Shawn and Gus are brought in undercover in order to strike out this killer! Michael Trucco (Battlestar Galactica), Danny Glover, and baseball legend Wade Boggs guest star.

Megan’s Choice

Last week’s episode of The X Factor was just overflowing with talent. Seriously, how can we choose? I was really happy that InTENsity was the one to go home, because I felt like the Stereo Hogzz deserved another chance. That said, I don’t think the groups are going to fare well against all the soloists, because people have a harder time connecting with them.

On tonight’s episode, the Top 11 take to the stage to woo us for our votes again. I’m really a big fan of Josh Krajcik and Rachel Crow, so I’m looking forward to seeing them perform this week. I think it’s going to be another group going home this week, but I guess we’ll see how the performances go.

To see if your favorite has an awesome performance, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The X Factor @ Clicker.

Kyle’s Choice

Last week on Survivor, the two 6-person tribes merged. At the elimination ceremony, the vote resulted in a tie. For the re-vote, Cochran decided to switch his vote (and thus his team), sending Keith to Redemption Island. The former Savaii members made some really stupid moves. First, why did Ozzy choose to use his idol on Whitney?! It seemed to me that the former Upolu members would go after a stronger member and that Keith was the more obvious choice. Secondly, Cochran (who I’m rooting for to win) probably made the dumbest move, basically going from 6th place on a team of 6 to 7th place on a team of 7! He should have just stuck with his tribe and forced a random draw to see who was eliminated! I really want the obnoxious “Coach” to go, but now I feel like I need to root for his team in order for Cochran to have any chance of winning. Things will not be good for Cochran back at camp as the bullies on his former tribe will never let him live down his choice. Good thing he has the creepy Brandon Hantz watching his back! 🙂

In tonight’s episode, “Cut Throat,” Cochran faces the wrath of his former alliance after suddenly turning against them, and the newly merged Te Tuna tribe learns there will be a double elimination at tribal council.

Jenny’s Choice #2

Last week was the first episode in a while that Benson totally didn’t irritate me or make me want to turn off Law & Order: SVU. She is beginning to adjust to having a new partner and to the fact that Stabler is gone, I think. I’m sure it’ll still be a slow process, but at least now I can enjoy all of it more than I was at first. On the new detectives’ front, I am still liking them, but because Danny Pino’s Detective Amaro is partnered with Benson, he seems to get a lot more screen time than Kelli Giddish’s Detective Rollins. Or at least, that’s what it seems to me. I love Kelli Giddish, so I’m hoping she is able to step forward more soon!

On tonight’s episode, “Russian Brides,” when a young woman is found brutally murdered, the SVU detectives use her distinctive tattoos to identify her as a recently engaged Russian mail-order bride (guest star Izabella Miko, The Cape). Upon questioning her distraught fiance (guest star Timothy Busfield, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The West Wing), they learn that she was kidnapped and held for ransom the night of their engagement party. While the detectives follow the money to a deadly blackmail scam run by the Russian Mafia, Captain Cragen goes undercover as a sad and lonely suitor to lure out a killer. Special appearances by Stephanie March (ADA Alex Cabot) and Tamara Tunie (M.E. Melinda Warner.)

  1. Kyle says:

What?! The Stereo Hogz were so un-energetic compared to InTENsity! I really would have rather seen them go. Also, it just bugs me that there is one guy in that group that’s like a foot taller than the others–so distracting! One of the others needs to wear lifts to keep it symmetrical! 🙂

I will miss my Wednesday ABC comedies this week! However, that means I may finally get to watch Criminal Minds on the day it airs!
