If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/20/11

What a crazy couple of weeks it’s been around my house! Luckily, it is starting to slow down a bit, as is also the case with television. It’s the beginning of a slow week in TV, but fear not, we still have a few things that you should be watching. What would we be without our opinions? 😀

Megan’s Choice

This season of The Amazing Race is well on it’s way, and there aren’t as many teams that I dislike this season. I’m still cheering for the snowboarder team of Andy/Tommy. They are just so amusing and sweet. Last week, after struggling to master the dance moves and getting U-turned, Zac/Laurence were eliminated.

On tonight’s episode, “It’s Speedo Time,” after a potentially game-changing error, one team hopes for a lucky break, and donning only a Speedo for their Detour task, Racers get in touch with their inner exhibitionists.

Kyle’s Choice

Whoa, so much happened on last week’s episode of The Walking Dead! Daryl almost got killed twice while out looking for Sophia, only to get shot on his return by an over-zealous Andrea. While he was out, Daryl came across Sophia’s doll, giving Carol some hope that her daughter is still alive. Meanwhile, Hershel started to feel like his guests have overstayed their welcome, and Glenn discovered that Hershel’s barn is filled with Walkers.
Has Daryl completely lost his mind? He has become like a savage zombie hunter, collecting trophy ears to wear around his neck. Why is Hershel keeping all those zombies in the barn? Are they the former owners of the farm? or family members he couldn’t bring himself to kill? Is he hoping to find a cure for them? Are they a food source? (I certainly hope it’s not that!) How are Shane and Rick going to react to Lori’s pregnancy, and which one’s the baby daddy? Could someone please just throw Andrea in that barn-o-zombies?!! I am so sick of her—I was screaming at the TV when she ran for her gun to shoot Daryl! Finally, will Glenn ever get a chance to hook up with Maggie again, without some disaster getting in the way?

In tonight’s episode, “Secrets,” Glenn becomes the keeper of a pair of secrets, Andrea develops a new skill and is forced to rely on it during a life-or-death confrontation, and Rick uncovers a secret about someone close to him.

Jenny’s Choice

I’ve thoroughly been enjoying this season of The Next Iron Chef. It is completely filled with super chefs, although I’m sad that Robert Irvine has already been sent home. I’ve already ranted about that, though, so instead, I will only say that I do not like Elizabeth Faulkner (she seems…I dunno what the word is I’m looking for. A little conceited, I guess.). I like Geoffrey Zakarian when he judges other shows, but I think he’s got too much of a stick up his ass to make a good Iron Chef. Everyone seems to think Marcus Samuelsson is the strongest one in the competition, but I have yet to come to that conclusion myself. In my opinion, right now, Anne Burrell is the one to beat. I’m rooting for her, because I think she’d make a fantastic IC. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Food Is Funny,” the remaining chefs travel to a comedy club in Hollywood, where comic Kevin Nealon and the audience offer suggestions on unique ingredients that the finalists must utilize within a dish in the improvise challenge.

Check it out tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Next Iron Chef @ Clicker.

This season on Amazing Race I don’t really have any teams that I love, but also not really any teams that I hate. Was sad to see the father/son team go (though I was only rooting for the son as that dad seemed like quite the jerk, and nothing his son did would please him–or he couldn’t do better.) I’m getting a little sick of all the non-elimination legs. And why are people always so upset when people use the U-Turn on them–they act like it’s personal, but it’s part of the game, and I think stupid NOT to use it!

Also really enjoying NIC (this is the first season I’ve watched, and don’t watch the actual Iron Chef show–just saw an ep when it first started and a handful of the original foreign show). Anne would be my pick as well–she’s excellent. Shocked that Robert Irvine went so soon–he was also a top contender in my book. I also really like Alex and would be happy if she won. Totally agree with your comments about Marcus and Jeffrey. I just don’t think of Jeffrey as a chef–just a Chopped judge. 🙂

I quit watching TAR (& Survivor, too). It’s just the same old stuff for me. Got boring. 🙁 But Kyle, I agree about the U-Turn and people’s reactions. More often than not, they are like, “*gasp* I can’t believe someone would U-Turn us!” UH, Duh?! Isn’t the point of the game to get ahead and win? U-Turn isn’t doing something underhanded or nasty. It’s using one of the legal options of the game to help win. Oi. lol

See, I like Alex, too, but she seems like this delicate flower type almost when she’s cooking. She gets so nervous on there sometimes–like she’s almost on the verge of freaking out. I don’t see her that way on other shows she judges, etc, so… who knows.
