This Week on TV – 11/27/11-12/3/11

Welcome to a new week of TV! It’s a pretty slow week on TV again, (even slower than last week, I think…), but there are still some great things on, like the return of fan favorites, Hot in Cleveland, The Closer, & Rizzoli & Isles, so check it out below!

Don’t forget to comment or Tweet @tvismypacifier to let us know what YOU are planning to watch this week!

Wednesday

Wednesday features 3 series premieres, 1 season premiere, & 2 season finales. To read more about each of those, click the link below. Otherwise, check out tonight’s schedule!

Click here for premiere & finale information

Tonight is the series premiere of Baseball Wives on VH1 at 9/8c. Set in Scottsdale Arizona, the home of baseball’s spring training, the show features the wives and girlfriends of talented baseball players from various teams. No shrinking violets here, these ladies are fiercely protective of their turf and their men and if they have to bring on a little drama – then so be it. The cast includes, Anna Benson (wife of Arizona pitcher Kris Benson), Tanya Grace (ex-wife of retired Chicago’s Mark Grace), Chantel Kendall (ex-wife of Kansas City’s Jason Kendall) and Brooke Villone (wife of big-league veteran Ron Villone). The inner circle of baseball wives proves to be challenging as the women cope with marriage, gossip and fame. With the baseball season being the longest in professional sports the women count on their friends to be their support system while their husbands are on the road but sometimes a friend can be your worst enemy. Rumors swirl and friendships are tested among the professional athletes’ wives as they are forced to make emotional decisions, proving that their lives are often just like everyone else’s. This captivating group makes for an adrenaline-charged rush of excitement as they showcase their style, humor and fastball drama. Get ready, because the bases are loaded for this sure-hit new series.

Tonight is also the series premiere of I Hate My teenage Daughter on FOX at 9:30/8:30c. Jaime Pressly and Katie Finneran star as single moms, best friends – and former nerds – who fear their privileged and overly indulged daughters are turning out just like the mean girls who picked on them in high school. Annie (Pressly), who was raised in an ultra-strict, uber-religious household where she had little-to-no freedom, pretty much allows her daughter, Sophie (Kristi Lauren), to do whatever she wants. Annie’s best friend Nikki (Finneran), once an unpopular, overweight social pariah, is now a pretty Southern belle who also allows her daughter, Mackenzie (Aisha Dee), to do as she pleases. The moms have given the girls everything they asked for and everything they never had: clothes, money and self-esteem. The unintended consequence is they have created two mean girls just like the ones who tortured them years ago. The series also stars Eric Sheffer Stevens as Annie’s ex-husband Matt who wants to be a good parent, but doesn’t know what that even means; Kevin Rahm as Matt’s brother Jack, a father figure to Sophie who’s meddling would annoy Annie more if she didn’t have such a crush on him; and Chad L. Coleman as Gary, Nikki’s ex-husband who also tries to help raise his challenging daughter but the couple’s complicated relationship often makes his involvement more difficult.

Tonight is also the season premiere of Hot in Cleveland on TV Land at 10/9c, followed by the series premiere of The Exes at 10:30/9:30c. Divorce attorney Holly (Kristen Johnston, Third Rock from the Sun) introduces her newly-single client Stuart (David Alan Basche, The Starter Wife, Lipstick Jungle) to his new roommates – ladies’ man Phil (Donald Faison, Scrubs) and homebody Haskell (Wayne Knight, Hot in Cleveland, Seinfeld), who share an apartment which Holly owns. Things start off a little shaky when the two bachelors have reservations about living with clingy Stuart, but Holly is right across the hall to help them avoid any catastrophes. To top it all off, Holly’s assistant, Eden (Kelly Stables, Two and a Half Men, Greek), doesn’t exactly let her professionalism get in the way of prying into her boss’s personal life.

Finally, tonight is the season finale of Whitechapel on BBC America at 10/9c, and the 1-hour season finale of Blue Mountain State on Spike TV at 11/10c.

Saturday

Saturday is a new episode of The Graham Norton Show on BBC America at 10/9c. Guests include Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Jennifer Saunders, & JLS.

Following that, it’s the series premiere of Would You Rather? With Graham Norton on BBC America at 11/10c, with a 2nd new episode at 11:30/10:30c. Based on popular British panel-style shows, each week celebrities and comedians are asked to contemplate and discuss ridiculous predicaments and moral quandaries. Would you rather permanently lose your thumbs or a cousin? Would you rather land a plane on ecstasy or diffuse a bomb with a hangover? Would you rather eat dog food for a year or get shot in the knee? After a hilarious and candid debate, the panelists must ultimately decide what they’d rather do and Graham picks his favorite response. The show is filmed in New York City in front of a live studio audience. Academy Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg, Grammy Award-winner Cyndi Lauper, Emmy Award-winner Stanley Tucci, The Good Wife’s Alan Cumming and 30 Rock’s Scott Adsit and Judah Friedlander have all decided they’d rather spend an evening with Graham and his guests than hobnob at fancy celebrity parties.

Also, tonight is a new episode of Saturday Night Live on NBC at 11:29/10:29c. Tonight’s host is Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), with musical guest The Black Keys.

  1. Ettie says:

Has it not occurred to anybody to mention that the Jewish Holiday, Hanukkah, is not mentioned in any of the TV dramas? How come?!

  2. Samantha says:

i have 12 this week. definitely not bad. though it is for me since i should be writing papers and preparing for finals that are this week!

  3. Megan says:

Ettie- That is a valid point, and I agree I haven’t seen it in any dramas this year. I will watch for anything in the coming weeks. All this talk of Hanukkah makes me want to make some potato latkes, with apple sauce. Yum. thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
