If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/11/11

We are 15 days away from Christmas Day, which is not good, because I have so much left to do. We are also only 10 days away from the start of Hanukkah, and and 16 away from Kwanza. But whatever holiday you celebrate, the one thing that remains is how this time of year represents a slow in the television world. I am not looking forward to a few weeks of barely any new shows. Luckily, this week still has a few must see shows to keep our attention. So pull up a piece of couch and check out what you should be watching tonight.

It’s here! Tonight is the season finale of The Amazing Race. After last week’s sad elimination of my favorite team of Tommy & Andy, we are left with Ernie & Cindy, Jeremy & Sandy, and Amani & Marcus. Out of the teams left, I’m leaning toward Amani & Marcus, but I’d be happy with anyone but Jeremy & Sandy. They annoy me too much. Whatever the outcome, it’s been an interesting race, and as always, I’ve enjoyed it.

On tonight’s episode, “Go Out and Get It Done,” after racing through 4 continents, 20 cities, and nearly 40,000 miles, the final three teams race to Atlanta, GA, where a smooth landing evades one team as their competition soars. In the end, the winning team is crowned and awarded the $1 million dollar prize.

I really enjoy Leverage. The show is just smart—smart writing, smart acting, smart storylines. It’s always a treat to watch the characters each and every week (especially love the developing relationship between Hardison & Parker. I wasn’t a HUGE fan of last week’s episode, though, because it was kind of a play on The Office, and I’ve never liked that show. lol There were parts I liked, of course, but … Regardless, tonight looks like a FUN episode. Jeri Ryan (Body of Proof, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) is back as Tara, Sophie’s friend who took over her spot on the team for a handful of episodes a while back.

On tonight’s episode, “The Girls’ Night Out Job,” when a James-Bond-like thief targets Parker’s friend Peggy, Parker recruits Sophie and Tara to help her and, together, the women of Leverage follow the thief to the Venezuelan Consulate, where they discover an international conspiracy.

Tonight is the penultimate Dexter of the season. Last week, Dexter tried to stop Travis from killing his next victim, only to arrive too late, and then accidentally kill the wrong man. Meanwhile, Louis Greene (Josh Cooke) asked for Dexter’s opinion of his new computer game, but was disappointed when Dexter told him his idea of letting the user be the serial killer was awful. Also, Deb discovers the deputy chief’s involvement in the dead call girl case.

I still believe that Louis is going to be the next big obstacle for Dexter. Dexter continues to use his search engine while investigating his kills, and now he’s upset Louis. It’s only a matter of time before he figures out the truth about Dexter.

In tonight’s episode, “Talk to the Hand,” Dexter develops a macabre scheme to try to apprehend the Doomsday Killers. Meanwhile, Debra and LaGuerta’s battle over the case of the dead call girl intensifies, and Debra’s therapist makes a bold and disturbing suggestion.

If you aren’t tuning in to the duality epicness of the show Once Upon a Time, you’re missing out on double the pleasure. We’ve seen fairytale characters be transported to modern times, and we’ve seen the modern characters deal with issues from the fairytale past. How they both collide is a truly blissful treat for viewers and fans of the show. Romance, drama, fantasy, and more intertwine into one delicious Sunday night guilty pleasure.

Tonight, on an all new episode, one of the town’s residents begins to remember their fairytale past, and Storybrooke mourns the loss of one of their own. Meanwhile, in the fairytale world that was, the Evil Queen tries to find a heartless assassin that will murder Snow White.

I’m so very ticked off at last week’s episode of The Next Iron Chef. Anne Burrell was my pick to win and who I think would be most fun to watch as an iron chef. I don’t like Michael Chiarello or Geoffrey Zakarian on this at all. Zakarian is ok as a judge on Chopped & what not, but I dunno…I just don’t like either of them on here. I’m not a fan of Chef Falkner, either. Out of the chefs that are left, Alex Guarnaschelli is my pick, I suppose. Still, it’s fun to watch the competition, regardless of who I want to win!

On tonight’s episode, “Hamptons Beach Cookout,” the four remaining chefs travel to Montauk to have a beach cookout with seafood creations, and it’s a double eliminations.

Tonight, HBO gives us a one-time opportunity to preview the pilot of their new show Luck, which doesn’t actually premiere until the end of January. This drama series about the world of horse racing finds Chester “Ace” Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) looking to get back in the swing of things after three years in jail, while a quartet of gamblers hope for a big payoff. It is written by David Milch (NYPD Blue, Deadwood) and directed by Michael Mann. With such big names on both sides of the camera, I have high hopes for this show.

My dad owned race horses when I was young, and recently got back into the game, so our family has spent a lot of time at the race track. (That sounds a lot seedier than it is! :)) I know my dad can’t wait to check out this show, and I’m looking forward to, as well.

Take advantage of the chance to see the preview tonight on HBO at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Luck @ Clicker.
