If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/14/11

We’re 6 days from my birthday, and only 11 days from Christmas. Are you ready? Send me an email, and I’ll give you my address so you can send me my birthday present! *snicker* Anyway, things are getting slower and slower every day on TV, but there are a handful of things we think you should tune in for tonight, so check out our recommendations below!

I’m excited we get one last new episode of Criminal Minds for 2011. Even with all the problems I have with this show, I still love it each and every week. I’m still so glad that Emily & JJ are back. I also still really love to see the personal parts of the show, like last week, when we realized the problem Strauss had was that she is an alcoholic—and drinking on the job, no less. Morgan and Hotch confronted her, and at the end of the episode, Morgan waited to take her to rehab himself. I love when my shows do stuff like that. It humanizes the characters and makes them more like a real person than just a TV character.

On tonight’s epsiode, “The Bittersweet Science,” the BAU team investigates a string of brutal bludgeonings in Philadelphia and is led to the city’s boxing scene in search of the killer. Also, Hotch makes a connection with an attractive runner as they both train for a triathlon. Bellamy Young (Dirty Sexy Money), Shawn Hotasy (Southland), & Charles S. Dutton guest star.

Check it out tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Criminal Minds @ Clicker.

It’s down to the final four on The X Factor, and it’s getting tense. We have Melanie, Chris, Marcus, and Josh left, after Rachel went home last week. It was a terrible elimination and so many things were wrong with it. America, you need to vote better, and judges, you need to be more decisive. That’s all I’m going to say about that. 🙂 Whatever the case, one of my favorites is gone, and at this moment, I would be okay with anyone but Marcus winning.

Tonight, the four finalists take to the stage live and perform two songs, with one chosen by the viewers.

I continue to be amazed and surprised by American Horror Story. For a show that I almost quit watching after the first few episodes, it has grown into a genuinely good drama with unexpected twists and turns. Last week, there was the shocking revelation that Violet has been dead for the past few weeks, and she didn’t even know it. When Tate tried to save her from her overdose a few weeks back, he was too late. Last week, he revealed the truth to Violet by showing her own dead body to her. Meanwhile, Vivien is pregnant with twins—one fathered by Ben, and the other by Tate. In tonight’s penultimate episode of the season, Vivien gives birth. Will both babies survive? Will Tate’s progeny really be the Antichrist? When will Ben and Vivien discover the truth about Violet? This show has gotten so good (I never thought in a million years I would be saying that)!

In tonight’s episode, “Birth,” Vivien has her baby, and Tate and Violet attempt to rid the house of some of its ghosts once and for all.

The winter finale of Psych is upon us, and it seems like just yesterday it was a start of a new season and that Psych Fan Appreciation Day was in full swing. Our favorite fake psychic has been a busy boy, along with his compadre, Gus. They’ve tackled cults, insane asylums, baseball teams, hangovers, and more. However, Shawn alone is embarking on something new this season—a relationship with Juliet. Not only is it a relationship… it’s a public one, where they don’t have to hide from the police department, and especially Lassie. Tonight, the two head out to a couples getaway. Can their relationship withstand the tests they face by spending a weekend away that turns into work?

Tonight, Shawn and Juliet head off to a romantic getaway, which ends up interrupted by a robbery and the surfacing of a dead body. Jason Priestley (Haven, Beverly Hills 90210) & Jennifer Finnigan (Better with You, Close to Home) guest star. [Note from Jenny: The photos I saw for this episode were of Jason Priestley & Jennifer Finnigan. However, the NBC press site said the photos were of Lori Laughlin—who is totally not the woman in the pictures—and the USA site says some other blonde actress. I KNOW the woman in the photos is Jennifer F., but it might be Arden Myrin and the press site has outdated photos or something. Just FYI.]

I’m always thrilled to see new episodes of Hot in Cleveland and The Exes, especially when no other new comedies are on. Both shows keep me laughing. The ladies on Hot in Cleveland are so funny and have such fantastic chemistry. I love how they play off each other every week. The cast of The Exes is still gelling, but I think they are working well so far, and I can’t wait to see how they grow as a cast.

On tonight’s episode of Hot in Cleveland, “Funeral Crashers,” when the drycleaners lose Melanies favorite dress, Elka takes them funeral crashing to track it down. Joy and Victoria are forced to face their pasts and Elka is reunited with someone who might be part of her future: Roy. John Mahoney (Frasier) & Orson Bean (Desperate Housewives, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) guest star.

On tonight’s episode of The Exes, “Working Girl,” Holly, determined to find Stuart a date, introduces him to a woman who turns out to be a true professional. Haskell invents a fabulous online lifestyle for himself in order to one-up his ex-wife. Paula Marshall (Gary Unmarried, Californication, Out of Practice) guest stars.

Don’t miss them tonight on TV Land at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Hot in Cleveland & The Exes @ Clicker.
