If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/29/11

Hello from NYC. I’m here for a few days, visiting with my former college roommate. This is the first time in probably 5 years that I’ve been here. I am really excited, because tonight, we’ve got tickets to see Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Broadway! However, despite being away, I’m still looking out for those searching for something new to watch on TV amongst this week’s barren TV lineups. 🙂

Tonight, Syfy is airing the feature-length pilot for Three Inches. In this comedy, underachiever Walter Spackman is struck by lightning and develops an unusual power, the ability to move any object with his mind a distance of three inches. He soon meets a team of other atypical superheroes like himself. The pilot is written by Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks), who also serves as executive producer. The series is envisioned to be a 30-minute sitcom, but I haven’t found any information about a series pick-up. That, coupled with the fact that this pilot is premiering this dead TV week, leads me to believe that this may be the only episode we ever see.

This show sounds like it could be a lot of fun—a sitcom version of Alphas. Plus, it’s got a great cast, including former TV vampires James Marsters and Kyle Schmid, Torchwood/Doctor Who alum Naoko Mori, and funny woman Andrea Martin. I’ll definitely be check this out—and who knows, maybe there will be a series in the future.

Check it out tonight on Syfy at 9/8c.
