If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/26/12

I’m all prepped for the Oscars tonight—I’ve managed to watch all 10 of the Best Picture nominees and 3 out of 5 of the Best Animated Picture nominees (I skipped the two foreign ones). I never really care about most of the films that are nominated for these awards—they are primarily films I have either never heard of or never would have watched otherwise. Though, it’s still fun to watch the ceremony, and I’m looking forward to seeing Billy Crystal host again. Each year, I run a for-fun-only Oscars pool with family and friends, and this year I’m hoping to take back the victory. 🙂

If the Academy Awards aren’t your thing or you are lucky and live on the west coast, where the Oscars will be all done before primetime, read on for what else we recommend.

Kyle’s Choice

Last week’s The Walking Dead was so good! Rick, Glenn, and Hershel were in the bar when friends of the two guys they killed last week arrived looking for them. A shootout ensued, with one of the guys getting his face bitten off by zombies, another got his leg stuck on a gate post, while the rest took off and the zombies closed in. Rick yanked Randall’s leg off the gate, blindfolded him, and all four headed back to the farm. Meanwhile, Lori woke up from her car crash only to discover a zombie trying to bit his way through the broken windshield. After Lori managed to kill the two walkers trying to attack her, Shane arrived and got her to go back to the farm by telling her Rick had already returned. In the final scene of the episode, Lori seemed to be trying to convince Rick that he needed to kill Shane.

It is great to see the series exploring all kinds of threats to these characters, both living and dead. The walkers aren’t the only “people” who are trying to kill them. There are still a lot of questions for tonight. Is Lori still pregnant after that car crash? Will Randall’s friends come looking for the farm? Will Shane take out Randall (he didn’t seem too happy about the idea of bringing him to the farm)? Will Rick and Shane start a power struggle to take over leadership of the group (with one of them possibly dying)?

In tonight’s episode, “18 Miles Out,” the appearance of an outsider puts Rick and Shane at odds; Hershel’s youngest daughter faces a momentous decision, and Andrea steps in to help.

Jenny’s Choice

I always enjoy new episodes of Worst Cooks in America, but I’m still having trouble figuring out who I want to root for this season so far. I kind of like Vinnie, but I also like Bob, and they are on opposite teams…so it’s a conundrum! It’s crazy just how bad some of these people are. My 14yo son was watching last week with me, and he said, “Mom, I’m a better cook than most of them!” Of course, we tend to follow recipes and not just try and cook without a recipe, but still…he’s right! LOL

On tonight’s episode, “Extreme Flavor,” the recruits make their own pizzas with odd flavors.

See it tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Worst Cooks in America @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching The Amazing Race, Cupcake Wars, & Iron Chef America.

Megan’s Choice

Last week was the premiere of season 20 for The Amazing Race, and what a premiere it was. Why are there so many brain dead people in this world? In my opinion, the sisters, Misa and Maiya, deserve to have been eliminated because of their plain stupidity. On a bright note, Elliot and Andrew are amazingly delicious to look at, making it all worthwhile.

On tonight’s episode, “You Know I’m Not as Smart as You,” the stress of the race causes one team to break down into tears. Meanwhile, chaos ensues when Racers are required to sharpen their numerical skills at the world’s largest cattle market.

To see which teams can cut it and which can’t, tune in to CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Amazing Race @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching The Walking Dead and The 2012 Academy Awards.

  1. Kyle says:

For Worst Cooks, I’m still rooting for Erica–though she’s on the wrong team. Anne needs to pull her over to her team. As for Bob–he needs a haircut. I’d be afraid of finding a 2 foot hair in my food. 😉

For Amazing Race, I was really hoping those sisters would get it together–with the opening bio, I thought they were going to be one of the better teams–boy was I wrong. But I’m really disappointed to see Team Jersey Shore and Team Big Brother still in this after week 1.

  2. Megan says:

I don’t like Team Jersey Shore or Team Big Brother either.

  3. Jenny says:

Bleh, see, SO not a fan of Erica on Worst Cooks. lol And yes, Bob desperately needs a haircut! LOL Ack. haha

I don’t like the Jersey Shore/Big Brother teams, either. Bah.
