The Parks Department on Parks and Recreation left off with trying to give Jerry a surprise birthday celebration. That, and Leslie had of course undertaken far too many tasks while also trying to work her campaign. The two clashed, which left Jerry’s birthday party in shambles and Leslie realzing that maybe she did indeed need to take a short sabatacle from the Parks Department. Tom tried way too hard to impress Ann, and it made Tom realize how many “No Nos” that Ann crosses off on his list of things women do that he can’t stand. Both Ann and Tom drove April nuts, going back and forth trying to get her opinion on the other, which led April to drown herself in a little bit of booze. With Leslie taking a leave of absence, how will the Parks Department survive without her?

On tonight’s new episode, “Campaign Shake-up,” Leslie’s opponent, Bobby Newport, hires a very powerful campaign manager (guest star Kathryn Hahn). Meanwhile, Ron is forced to interview replacements for Leslie, and an unlikely employee discovers a soclution to a very challenging problem.

There’s not a lot on tonight for me (two things to be exact…). So in addition to Awake & American Idol, I’m going to be tuning in to Up All Night. This is far from my favorite comedy right now, but it’s cute and amusing. I’m not a huge fan of Maya Rudolph, so her character is my least favorite. But over the course of the season, she’s become less annoying to me, so that’s something. 😉 I love her relationship with Kevin (Jason Lee). I also love Christina Applegate & Will Arnett as Reagan and Chris.

On tonight’s episode, “New Boss,” on the cusp of the fifth anniversary of “Ava,” Reagan and Ava’s idol, Yvonne Encanto (guest star Eve Best, Nurse Jackie), acquires the show. This acquisition brings more than they were expecting when Yvonne’s right hand, Luke Granby (guest star Steven Pasquale, Rescue Me), an ex-military man, takes charge as the new boss. Meanwhile, Chris and Reed (guest star Will Forte) decide to refurbish Reed’s recently inherited motorcycle.

Check it out tonight on NBC at 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of Up All Night @ Clicker.

It’s been quite the week for performances on American Idol, and I’m ready to find out who’s going home. I like a lot of the contestants, and I think we should have spent more time on this part of the competition and less on Hollywood stuff, because then the contestants would have had more time to wow America, instead of having such a big cut. That being said, I’m ready to get on with the rest of the competition.

Tonight, the competition takes a big turn as America’s vote shows us the first set of finalists, and then the remaining contestants have one last chance to perform for the the judges, who will pick the wild cards to join the finalists.

To see if your favorite makes it through, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of American Idol @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching Awake.

Tonight is the premiere of NBC’s new high-concept show, Awake, from the writer of last year’s Lone Star. Much like Lone Star, the series explores a man living a double-life. However, in this show, these double lives exist in two separate realities. Detective Michael Britton was involved in a car crash while driving with his family. In one reality, his son survived the crash, while in the other, his wife survived. When he falls alseep in one reality, he wakes up in the other.

The pilot has been available online for the past couple of weeks. I found the pilot to be refreshing and different from anything else I have seen recently. I’m really looking forward to seeing what format the series will take from week to week.

In tonight’s pilot, a detective awakens after his family’s car accident to discover he’s living in two parallel worlds. In one, his wife survived the crash and his son perished. In the other, his son continues to live, but his wife was killed. While trying to regain footing in his complex double lives, he continues his efforts to crack cases in both worlds.

Check out the series premiere on NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Awake @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, The Office, and Up All Night.
