If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/11/12

Fridays are normally kind of slow, but tonight is definitely an exception, because not only are there five season finales tonight, there are also several other great episodes to round out our work week. There are so many, in fact, that Megan & I both just couldn’t leave it at one recommendation…and I couldn’t limit mine to two! *laugh* So read on to find out what we think you should be watching tonight. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

My first pick tonight is the finale of The Finder…for several reasons. First, I love the show. Second, I love when series star Geoff Stults and his brother George guest star on the other’s series (Geoff guest starred on 7th Heaven a couple of times when George was starring. Loved that. lol). And finally…well, it was announced this week that the show has been canceled. So tonight is going to be the last episode. Very sad for those of us that enjoy it!. On the last episode, it was a lot of fun seeing how each of the characters dealt with all the voodoo stuff. It was all sorts of craziness. First, Isabel was shot during a gang shootout at a funeral, in which a priest was killed and her partner on the stakeout was shot. One of the gang members then comes to Walter and asks him to find a voodoo doll that someone made of him. Isabel told him he had to do it, but Leo refused to participate (until later, when Walter himself was shot…). Luckily, a protection medal made for Walter by the “good witch” Willa brought to them earlier in the case saved him, and he was hurt but ok. Again, it was a fun episode because of the way everyone reacted to the voodoo and witchcraft aspects. 🙂

The biggest question for me going into tonight’s finale is Willa. All season, it’s been gearing up to her having to marry Timo. I can’t see the show letting that happen, so how will she get out of it? Will she wise up and say “Screw you!” to her gypsy family for good? By the way, if you are on Twitter, you should be following series creator & all around funny guy, @HartHanson. Tell him I sent you. 😉

On tonight’s series finale, “The Boy with the Bucket,” when Walter’s older brother Langston (guest star George Stults) comes to town, he asks Walter to visit their dying father (guest star John Ashton, Gone Baby Gone). As his dying wish, his father asks Walter to find his first love, Walter and Langston’s mother (guest star Annette O’Toole, Smallville). Taking on the most important search of his life, Walter battles obstacles which may prove to be insurmountable as his father’s health rapidly declines. Meanwhile, Willa is being forced to marry Timo by their Uncle Shadrack.

It’s a sad night for me because it’s the season finale of Blue Bloods, and this show continues to be on the top of my must-see list weekly. I’m not sure if it’s the police drama, the legal side, the family drama, or the hot cast… Okay, it’s all of it. Last episode, we saw Jamie blow his cover to Noble in order to save both their lives, and he ended up talking him into testifying against his family, earning him and his sister protective custody. This was a huge risk for Jamie, but his concern for his friend played a big part on his conscience, and you have to love a man with a heart – especially when he’s as cute as Jamie. 🙂

On tonight’s finale, “Mother’s Day,” Frank must race to stop a biological weapon attack on New York City, while keeping it a secret from his family during their most sentimental holiday, Mother’s Day. Meanwhile, a long-standing conflict between Danny and Jamie comes to a head.

I can’t wait for tonight’s season finale of Fringe. Last week, the gang discovered that David Robert Jones was using nanites to make people to spontaneously combust. However, Walter believed that this was too complicated for DRJ and that William Bell was back. Peter and Olivia located DRJ and his larger-scale version of the device, but Bell used the nanites to sacrifice DRJ before their eyes. Meanwhile, Walter and Astrid found Bell’s hideout, but a shootout resulted in Astrid getting shot and collapsing to the ground.

It was an exciting episode, and I was shocked to see Leonard Nimoy back! (And even more excited to get to talk to him on a Fringe press Q&A call yesterday!) Who knew that DRJ was reporting to an even bigger bad guy and that would end up being William Bell?! I am looking forward to seeing how this all plays out and what Bell’s master plan is. I really hope Astrid isn’t dead – it just wouldn’t be the same without her next season. (Yeah, I know, we would still have Alt-Astrid, but that’s not the same.) I’m so glad tonight isn’t the series finale and that we have another 13 to look forward to in the Fall!

In tonight’s episode, “Brave New World,” the Fringe team is desperate to prevent a catastrophic event that could cause mass death and destruction.

Don’t miss it tonight on FOX at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Fringe @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Undercover Boss, Primetime: What Would You Do?, Grimm, The Finder, Supernatural, Fairly Legal, and Common Law.

Jenny’s Choice #2

My second pick tonight is the new episode of Nikita. This show has been giving us great episodes leading up to what will be a fantastic finale. The team has been desperately trying to take down Percy, especially since he got his hands on the plutonium. Last week, Ryan convinced the team to contact the new man in charge of the CIA. At first, they thought he was in bed with Percy, but they came to learn that no, he was under Percy’s control because he had a Division kill chip implanted along with his pacemaker. Birkhoff was able to deactivate it, and the guy gave them what they would need to take down Percy. That was all mixed in with a Division team finding their safe house – although thanks to perimeter sensors, they were able to escape and blow up the Division team & the safe house, too – and they took up residence in the safe house Nikita had gotten for Ryan. We also learned that apparently, Percy isn’t building a bomb. So…what is he doing?! Finally, we got some movement on the relationship between Alex & Sean, when they FINALLY kissed, and we got some good “Mikita” moments. It was a busy, full episode, but another good one.

On tonight’s episode, “Crossbow,” Percy calls the President the United States (guest star Cameron Daddo) and threatens to set off a nuclear explosion unless his demands are met. Birkhoff finds two scientists who could help stop Percy’s new nuclear satellite, so Nikita and Michael head after one and Sean and Alex look for the other. Unfortunately, Alex and Sean get caught at the very location that Percy blows up as an example of his power. Meanwhile, Nikita realizes the best way to stop Percy is to go into the belly of the beast – Division itself.

Common Law comes to USA, and this is not your average buddy-buddy cop show! The show centers around two cops, Travis Marks and Wes Mitchell who have a major problem – each other! Despite the differences they have, the two are phenomenal detectives. When things come to a head at their seven-year mark in the Roberry-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, their captain forces them into couples therapy in order to save their working marriage. The two are forced to meet with Dr. Ryan (Sonya Walger), who is a tough-as-nails therapist that tries to help the two resolve their conflicts and confront their demons in order to enhance their ability to work together with solving crimes. As Dr. Ryan explores their relationship, we find out these two are actually birds of a feather professionally and that they are able to balance out their personal differences.

The drama goes down tonight when partners Wes and Travis are enrolled in couples counseling. The duo also searches for the murderer of a federal judge’s son.

Tonight, I am also watching Fairly Legal, Grimm, and Who Do You Think You Are?!

Megan’s Choice #2

CSI: NY has become my favorite of the franchise in the past couple of seasons, and this season did not disappoint. This season, we finally saw Mac have a love interest that he really cares about, who is totally adorable and perfect for him. Last week, we watched the team unravel the twisted mystery behind a hometown hero’s murder, which eventually led back to local drugs, gangs, and an affair – proving that sometimes, you can’t escape your past. I’m looking forward to spending more time with this team next season, aren’t you? (Let’s cross our fingers it gets renewed!)

On tonight’s episode, “Near Death,” Mac is shot and finds himself in limbo between life and death. While he’s fighting for his life, it’s up to his team to bring the shooter to justice.

To see if our beloved Mac pulls through, tune in to CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of CSI: NY @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching Grimm, Supernatural, Fringe, Fairly Legal, and The Finder.

Jenny’s Choice #3

Last week’s Grimm was all about Cinderella and her step-sisters…sort of. *laugh* It turned out that the “Cinderella” characters was the killer of her stepmother and one of her stepsisters. My favorite part had to be when Nick and Hank had the guy in interrogation and he made a comment about the detectives knowing what was up. Nick kind of got this stricken look on his face, because it was obvious the guy was talking about him being a creature, and Hank is clueless about all that. The guy covered it well. Of course, then he started spouting off craziness (ie: the truth… LOL), and that helped cover it more because Hank then realized the guy was crazy. I have to say once again how damn much I love Monroe, who is one of the best, most fun characters on TV. I love when he helps Nick, like bringing out the sound machine thing toward the end of last week’s episode. He’s so great. lol

We’re getting down to the point where Hank and Juliette HAVE to figure out something is up with Nick. It would be cool to have Hank on his side. I’m not sure if Juliette will be able to handle it or not, though… I guess we’ll see…

On tonight’s episode, “Big Feet,” after Juliette stumbles upon a brutal murder, Nick learns the suspected creature (guest star Kenneth Mitchell, Jericho), and friend of Monroe, is suffering from a mysterious condition – the inability to completely return to human form. This mysterious condition leads them to a therapist (guest star Roger Bart, Desperate Housewives) who’s created an artificial drug to suppress the creature side, with horrifying side effects. Meanwhile, the investigation takes a surprising turn when Hank sees something he can’t quite explain.

Check it out tonight on NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grimm @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Blue Bloods, CSI: NY, & the series premiere of Common Law.
