If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/10/12

Early tomorrow morning, I head off to San Diego for Comic-Con. As usual, I’m both excited and a little overwhelmed. There are so many great TV panels I want to see, but some tough decisions will need to be made as many of them overlap. I’m sure I’ll be running on little sleep but still have a great time. I will be taking a break from these nightly TV suggestions during Comic-Con, but read on to find out what we’re recommending you check out tonight.

Last season’s White Collar finale left us with quite the cliffhanger! Neal’s commutation hearing was underway. While Kramer dug for dirt on Neal in order to take Caffrey back to DC to use as his own resource, Peter dug for clues as to Kramer’s motives. Neal tried to assure himself that the hearing would go his way, but he started to have doubts—he still wasn’t sure what Peter was going to say on his behalf. These doubts overwhelmed Neal, and he cut his anklet and got on a plane with Mozzie.

So where do we go from here? Even if Neal’s sentence is commuted, as soon as the news that he has made a run for it comes out, he will be a fugitive, and you can bet he won’t get the same cushy deal he just had. I don’t see how Peter could even fix this one (if he wanted to). So I’m interested to see how this season is going to work—will it just be a hunt for Neal, or will they find a way to make Caffrey and Burke partners once again?

In tonight’s season premiere, “Wanted,” Peter tries to find Neal on a remote island before a bounty hunter locates him first.

I’m SO excited. There are a few shows on during the summer that I look forward to as much as I do any on during the regular season. Covert Affairs quickly became one of those shows, and thankfully, tonight is the season premiere. Last season ended with Annie realizing she had feelings for Auggie, yet Auggie was pining after his girlfriend, who had left the country…and just when Annie had decided that maybe it was time to talk to him about her feelings, he decided to follow his girlfriend out of the country for a long vacation. It broke my heart to see Annie realize that Auggie didn’t get what she was trying to say.

I’ve seen the season premiere, and I can tell you a few things. One: You don’t want to miss it—especially the first 10 minutes. Two: The season premiere is a game changer for the show and will have repercussions for the rest of the season. I’m worried about how the season is going to go, but Piper Perabo recently spoke to the press, and her answers to some of the questions helped… Check that out HERE.

On tonight’s episode, “Hang On to Yourself,” after tragedy shakes up the CIA, Annie and the rest of the DPD find themselves in an unfamiliar situation…

Don’t miss it tonight on USA Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Covert Affairs @ Clicker.

I didn’t watch Boston Med, but when the screener for NY Med became available, plagued by insomnia, I gave it a go. It was very enjoyable to watch, with some crazy medical cases and a few that even made me go, “OMG!” 🙂 This first episode, we are graced with an appearance by the adorable Dr. Oz and watch him at work as opposed to when he’s on his show.

In this eight part series, cameras followed the staff and patients of Columbia and Weill Cornell Medical Centers, of the prestigious New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. We also get a Brooklyn dimension, with Lutheran Medical Center. We’ll see the best, the worst, and everything in between that these medical professionals have to offer. It’s going to be a wild ride.

The season premiere brings us a woman talking to her doctors during brain surgery; Dr. Mehmet Oz performs open heart surgery, and a beautiful ER nurse faces strange cases.

To see if this real life drama is for you, tune in to ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of NY Med @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Love in the Wild, The Glee Project, Jane by Design, and Trust Us with Your Life.

Another show I have to recommend tonight is the series premiere of Trust Us With Your Life. If you were a fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway? or Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza Last Vegas special, you’ll love this show. It’s a combination of those shows and This Is Your Life, the old show where the host surprised a guest and took them through stories of their life in front of the studio audience. On each episode of Trust Us With Your Life, each celebrity guest reminisces about certain things that have happened in their lives, and then brilliant improvisers act out those moments which the celebrity has just described. We see sketches like “Forward-Reverse” and others that were on the previous shows, as well as some new sketches like “Sideways,” which is absolutely hysterical.

I have seen three of the eight episodes and loved every one of them. Fred Willard hosts, and he’s fun to watch with the celebrities. Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, & Jonathan Mangum are the regular improvisers, and they are joined by a different 4th improviser each episode. I spoke with Jonathan a few weeks ago about the show. You can check that out here: Jonathan Mangum interview.

On tonight’s premiere, the celebrity guest is Serena Williams. Serena is a fashion designer, charity fundraiser and Olympic gold medalist, but is probably best known as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. The guest comedian is Greg Proops.

Then in the second episode, the celebrity guests are Jack & Kelly Osbourne, reality TV stars and the well-known brother and sister from legendary rock star Ozzie Osbourne and his wife, Sharon. The guest comedians are Craig Cackowski & David Armand.

Laugh along tonight on ABC at 9/8c & 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Trust Us With Your Life @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, HGTV Design Star, Rizzoli & Isles, Franklin & Bash, & Retired at 35.
