If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/22/12

Thank goodness my Tuesday went a hundred times better than my Monday—not that it would have been hard to do otherwise. We’re getting closer and closer to the new season of TV, and I have to say that I’m absolutely beyond excited. For the first time, I think I’m actually a TON more excited for the returning shows than I am the new ones. Yeah, I’m looking forward to some of the new shows, but…Castle, Bones, NCIS… So many of the returning ones, I just can’t wait for. But that’s in the future. There’s plenty of great TV on tonight, so check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

I can’t help but recommend the ABC Family comedies again tonight. It’s been a bit since I did that, but really, they are ones I look forward to every week. Starting off the night is a new episode of Melissa & Joey. Last week was great because we figured out Joe was in a “relationship” with a co-worker of sorts from Russia. He was working with companies overseas as a kind of consultant, and she was…kind of the Russian Joe Longo in the group. They had a date after their work meeting, and that was cute. Then she surprised him by showing up at the house, having flown over from Russia to surprise him. She sure surprised Mel, who didn’t know she existed! The other really hysterical part of the episode was Ryder giving himself a hickey with the vacuum cleaner while trying to clean up crumbs from his snack.

On tonight’s episode, “From Russia with Love,” Mel is irritated with Joe’s visiting girlfriend, Elena, when she starts monopolizing him, leaving little time for the rest of his duties. However, Mel soon befriends her, which leads to trouble between Elena and Joe. But then problems arise back in Russia, leading Elena to rely on Mel and Joe even more. Meanwhile, Ryder volunteers to help Lennox with an experiment, which requires him to only eat vending machine food, but he soon regrets his helpfulness.

So You Think You Can Dance has been full of ups and downs already for me this season, and last week was no exception. Last episode, we lost 4 dancers—Amelia, Dareian, Janelle, and Matthew. With the exception of Janelle, those were my favorites! America, you failed.

On tonight’s episode, the Top 10 finalists perform, this time with a SYTYCD All-Star dancer with an expertise in ballroom, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, or jazz. After their performances, we will find out which two dancers will be ending their journeys. This week’s guest judge is Benjamin Millepied; L.A. Dance Project performs.

To see if America can make better choices this week, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of So You Think You Can Dance @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Baby Daddy, Oh Sit!, and Top Chef Masters.

Also on ABC Family tonight is a new episode of Baby Daddy. I so adore this show. I’ve loved every episode, including last week—Ben blowing off the guys to get a session with a woman from a “Mommy and me” group was great, especially when Tucker & Danny moved all their “man” stuff down to the basement. *laugh* And of course, it turned out that the mommy who was supposed to be the “know-it-all” group leader really wasn’t what she appeared to be. She ended up basically falling asleep when Ben ran out to check on the score of the boxing match the guys were watching, and then she cried to Bonnie about hwo she was feeling. It was as funny as it always is, and I look forward to another new ep tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “A Wheeler Family Christmas Outing,” an excited Ben tries to bring everyone together, including his father, for Emma’s very first family Christmas portrait. Riley & Tucker unintentionally find Danny’s secret journal from his high school days and contemplate looking through it. Greg Grunberg (Alias, Heroes, Love Bites) guest stars.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC Family at 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Baby Daddy @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, Oh Sit!, America’s Got Talent, The Soul Man, The Exes, Retired at 35, & Top Chef Masters.

Finally, someone made a big move on Big Brother. On Sunday, I was so glad to see Shane finally put up Mike “Boogie” and Frank for elimination. Mike is so arrogant, obnoxious, and full of himself. For the Head of Household competition, his partner Frank couldn’t compete, but instead of trying to go for Head of Household to be able to save both Frank and himself, he chose to go for the money. I really hope that greediness is what sends him home tomorrow night. It says a lot when I want someone with a (albeit bad) personality gone before loud-talker Joe or completely boring Jenn!

Tonight is the Power of Veto competition. While I am really hoping the nominations stay the same, I will be happy so long as “Boogie” remains on the block. However, last week we got a glimpse of a possible Pandora’s Box for this season, and I suspect this is the Big Brother producers’ way of manipulating the game in order to keep “Boogie” playing. You know they love this character they’ve built over the seasons and don’t want to lose him from the show. Though, I really hope I’m wrong.

See all the fun tonight on CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Big Brother @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Melissa & Joey, Baby Daddy, Top Chef Masters, Royal Pains, and Futurama.
