Happy Hump Day! It’s a big day for me because I just watched the Bones season premiere (what can I say but fantastic and amazing?) and I get to talk to executive producers Hart Hanson & Stephen Nathan. Yay me! 😉 I’d like to welcome JJ to the Remote posts. He’s going to even up the group at two guys & two girls, which will be helpful once the new season starts. 🙂 So let’s get to it. Check out what we think you should be watching tonight. 😀
Jenny’s Choice #1
I’m sad because tonight is the season finale of the last two summer shows on TV Land: The Soul Man & The Exes. It’s been a great season for both. On The Soul Man, we were introduced this season to ex-R&B singer Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine (played by Cedric the Entertainer), his wife Lolli (played by Niecy Nash), daughter Lyric, father Barton (played by Everwood’s John Beasley), and brother Stamps (played by What I Like About You’s Wesley Jonathan). The entire family is fantastic, and the chemistry is terrific. When Barton retired from preaching, Boyce retired from singing and took over as preacher at his father’s church. There’s been conflict between the two because Barton has been having a hard time letting go of the pulpit, but you can feel the love between not only them but the entire family. I’ve really enjoyed it and was thrilled when I learned it has been renewed for a second season.
In tonight’s episode, “Momma’s Home,” Barton’s ex-wife Della (played by the incomparable Loretta Devine) arrives in St. Louis while the town is experiencing a blackout; Boyce counsels Barton and Della, and things take an unexpected turn. Lolli begins to suspect that she is pregnant. Stamps realizes it is time for him to grow up.

JJ’s Choice
Hi. guys. JJ here, back again after a slow and, for some shows, disappointing (looking at you, True Blood!) summer season. This year, I’ll be covering Community and Smash as you might already know, and I’ll be sharing custody over Revenge with Lot (Charlotte), who’s started with Warehouse 13 for you this summer. And I’ll also be chiming in on the “What If We Controlled Your Remote” posts starting this week. I hope you enjoy! 🙂
My first official pick for you is Oh Sit!, which premiered on The CW this summer. It’s one of those shows which I wouldn’t watch when the season is in full swing, but during the summer, it’s a delightful light entertainment. I mostly enjoy the fact that physical contact is actually allowed, so sometimes, some crazy stuff goes down.
On tonight’s episode, Eva Simons is the musical guest as 12 new contestants get ready for the new race of musical chairs.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching So You Think You Can Dance and The Real World.

My other pick tonight is the season finale of The Exes. I loved season one of this show, and season two has been just as good, if not better. The guys really gelled as roommates, Holly as as crazy as ever, and Eden is pregnant! (She’s a surrogate for Holly’s boss & his wife, which is cool.) This show makes me laugh every episode, although last week’s with Zach Braff as a client of Phil’s had me laughing so hard I nearly choked. When he had Stuart on the massage table & Phil walked in and screamed like a little girl? I was just dying. It was one of the funniest moments of the series.
On tonight’s episode, “Pirates of the Care of Eden,” the whole gang crashes an exclusive party on a yacht owned by Phil’s boss, and while touring the boat and ignoring Phil’s request for them to leave, an extremely pregnant Eden goes into labor with only the guys and Holly to help her.
Don’t miss it tonight on TV Land at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Exes @ Clicker.
Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, Oh Sit!, America’s Got Talent, Top Chef Masters, Restaurant: Impossible, & Restaurant Stakeout.
Megan’s Choice
This season on So You Think You Can Dance, we have had tons of guest judges, talented dancers, and sad farewells. I was quite sad to see Will go because he was another one of my favorites—but in the end, they will all go but one guy and one girl. Who’s your favorite?
On tonight’s episode, “Top 6 Perform/2 Eliminated,” the top 6 dancers perform with the All-Stars from previous seasons, and two more are eliminated. Also a performance by the AXIS Dance Company.
To see if your favorite survives, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of So You Think You Can Dance @ Clicker.
