If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/12/12

I love my non-job of running this site for many reasons. But being able to chat with the celebs & TV showrunners, being able to catch show premieres early (this week, it was NCIS, Hawaii Five-0, & the series premiere of Vegas on CBS—and all were great. I loved the new show a lot more than I’d anticipated. The cast is phenomenal!), and last but not least, bringing you the schedules each week & daily plus what we think you guys should be watching each day is my favorite reason. Now that I’ve said all that, go on… See what we think you should be watching tonight. 😉

I’m so excited about tonight’s premiere of the new series Guys with Kids. I always love shows like this, and it’s brought to us by Jimmy Fallon, so it’s worth giving a chance (or two) to before judging it. Here’s the premise: The show is about three 30-something dads who try to hold on to their youth as they face the responsibilities of having kids. Thankfully, Gary (Anthony Anderson, Law & Order), Chris (Jesse Bradford, The West Wing) and Nick (Zach Cregger, Friends with Benefits) have each other to help navigate the highs and lows of fatherhood—while still trying desperately to remain dudes. Balancing work or staying at home, happily married or happily divorced, taking care of the “littles” while maintaining a social life is a daily challenge. Whether it’s hosing down their babies in the kitchen sink or hitting the bar strapped with “babybjorns,” these guys are taking on fatherhood in ways no one has ever seen before. Nick’s and Gary’s wives—Emily (Jamie-Lynn Sigler, The Sopranos) and Marny (Tempestt Bledsoe, The Cosby Show) also offer their own parenting advice. Dads today are more involved in their kids’ lives than ever, and these guys are no exception. No tantrum is too loud, no diaper is too dirty—Nick, Chris, and Gary are up to the challenge.

Besides Jimmy Fallon, Charlie Grandy (from NBC’s The Office) is also an exec producer/creator, & Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz (from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place & American Dad) are executive producers. And finally, Emmy-nominated director Scott Ellis (Modern Family & 30 Rock) is the director. Those are some big name comedy backgrounds, so I’m hoping that translates into something great. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” when Chris is asked out to a Knicks game, he must find a babysitter without his ex-wife Shelia (Erinn Hayes) finding out. Elsewhere, Gary and Marny find an unusual spot for some alone time. Meanwhile, Nick is in the dog house when he forgets about an important event with his wife, Emily.

The X Factor returns with new judges and a new season tonight. Demi Lovato and Britney Spears are joining the judges in place of Paula and Nicole, and I for one am interested to see how they do. Is Britney capable of giving anyone advice? Will either lady be taken seriously? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Demi’s music, and I still giggle at reruns of Sonny with a Chance with my daughter, but I’m not sure she’s going to be my cup of tea on this show. Same goes for Britney. Regardless of my concern in the ability of the female judges, I am more than excited to see what kind of talent the show is going to bring us this year, and it better be big because The Voice has already laid down a pretty sweet offering.

On tonight’s episode, “Auditions #1,” season 2 premieres with new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid for an evening of auditions, as solo artists and music groups compete for a $5 million recording contract.

To see what the new panel is like, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The X Factor @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Voice, Guys with Kids, and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. (Don’t judge it’s so funny.)

On last week’s Royal Pains, Hank treated a student and her romance novelist mother. Divya worried that Rafa might not feel as deeply for her as she did for him. Jeremiah’s feelings for Divya became more obvious as he hosted a dinner party for her and Rafa and emphasized the morbid when treating Rafa’s illness. Meanwhile, the General asked Evan to help get Paige to talk with her adoptive parents again. However, just after she seemed to have accepted them back into her life, Paige’s birth mother showed up.

It seems like Divya always has these guys pining away after her, and she is completely clueless about it. First, there was Evan, and now Jeremiah. Maybe history will repeat itself, and Jeremiah will move on just as Divya realizes she has feelings for him.

In tonight’s episode, “Something Fishy This Way Comes,” Boris calls on Hank again to travel the globe to help Dmitry; Hank and Harper grow closer; and Paige continues to navigate the fallout from the revelation of a family secret.

See it tonight on USA Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Royal Pains @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, The Voice, Guys with Kids, The X Factor, and Top Chef Masters.

Slowly but steadily, the season is starting up again, with mostly some comedies and our singing competitions starting first. So this week, I’m clearing my schedule once again, maybe for the last time, for Oh Sit!

Tonight, twelve brave competitors attempt to outlast one another in an intense game of musical chairs where each must find a seat in each of the five obstacle courses. Stu Stone is the musical guest.

See who wins the money tonight on The CW at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Oh Sit! @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching The Voice and The X Factor.
