If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/20/12

Fall TV kicks into full gear next week, but we’ve been getting a lot of new and returning shows trickling back onto our TVs over the past couple of weeks. And tonight, we add the return of the NBC Thursday comedy lineup. This evening, I’ll be going with my dad to see a sneak preview of the new Kevin James comedy, Here Comes the Boom, but I’ll be hitting up the DVR afterwards. Read on to see what we recommend you check out tonight.

I can’t wait for the return of Parks and Recreation—it is my favorite of the Thursday comedies. At the end of last season, Leslie Knope won the City Counsel race, Ben was headed off to D.C., Ron took over the Parks and Rec department, and Andy wanted to become a cop. Tonight, we get to see where our favorite characters are at and who’s still working with whom. I hope they find a fun way to bring everyone back together and keep Leslie interacting with the rest of the gang.

In tonight’s episode, “Ms. Knope Goes to Washington,” Leslie and Andy are in Washington, D.C., visiting Ben and April at their new jobs. Back in Pawnee, Ron hosts a barbecue for the entire Parks and Recreation staff. Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), and Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) guest star.

See what the characters are up to tonight on NBC at 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of Parks and Recreation @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording SNL Weekend Update Thursday, Up All Night, The Office, The X Factor, Glee, Wilfred, Awkward., Awkward. Aftershow. You’re Welcome., Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

Last week, Glee returned with a great start, even if it was a bit odd not having our usual group together at McKinley. There were a few moments where I missed the dynamics of the original group of kids, but the new additions and the amazing job by Kate Hudson made up for it. I’m not sure where this season is going, but I hope wherever it goes is a fabulous story to follow, with loads of great music and not too many corny guest appearances.

On tonight’s episode, “Britney 2.0,” Brittany falls into a rut and turns to Britney Spears’s music for help breaking out of it; Brody helps Rachel adjust to life in New York.

To see if this episode flops or is worth your time, tune in to FOX at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Glee @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The X Factor.

JJ’s Choice

Last week’s episode of Awkward. ended with Jenna calling someone, probably either Jake or Matty, but we don’t know who. The rest of the episode was quite funny but didn’t really add to the tension that has been building over the season.

On tonight’s episode, “The Other Shoe,” after news about Jenna’s decision about Jake and Matty goes public, she winds up taking a big trip to Europe, and just as everything seems to be going her way, she begins to wonder if what she wants is really what she needs.

See how the season ends in tonight’s finale on MTV at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Awkward @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching The X Factor, Up All Night, Glee, Project Runway, and Parks and Recreation.
