If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/27/12

Are your DVRs on fire yet?! Have they banded together to form a union and demand overtime pay and benefits?! My TiVo has been recording non-stop with the insane number of new and returning shows we’ve had starting (back) up this week! And tonight’s no different, with wall-to-wall premieres on CBS and ABC, including two great new series, Elementary and Last Resort. Read on to find out what we suggest you check out tonight.

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, ABC adds the new series Last Resort to its lineup. This pilot was one of my favorites of this fall’s new dramas. The opener is a suspenseful, action-packed hour, which sets up some interesting mysteries, political intrigue and drama. The series is also loaded with a lot of great, familiar actors, such as Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman (Felicity), Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse, Being Human), Autumn Reeser (No Ordinary Family, The OC), Jessy Schram (Falling Skies), and Robert Patrick. My only concern is that its 8pm Thursday timeslot has historically been unsuccessful for ABC ever since Ugly Betty ended—shows like Charlie’s Angels, My Generation, and Flash Forward all died in this slot. I hope everyone checks this out tonight and enjoys it as much as I did!

In tonight’s episode, “Captain,” mysterious orders to fire nuclear weapons at a foreign country are received in the opener of this series following the crew of a U.S. submarine, who seek refuge on an exotic island after being attacked under suspicious circumstances.

Don’t miss all the drama tonight on ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Last Resort @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Grey’s Anatomy, Saturday Night Live, Up All Night, The Office, Parks and Recreation, The X Factor, Glee, Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

My whole family is excited about tonight’s season premiere of Person of Interest. My husband & I loved it from the beginning, and our 14yo started watching mid-season and now loves it as much as we do. We all find the concept of the show—a supercomputer that monitors every camera, email, text, phone call, etc, for information on possible acts of terrorism—both frightening and intriguing. It was a lot of fun to watch the characters develop throughout the season. My heart went out for both Reese & Finch, for a while I wasn’t sure if I liked Carter or not (although at the end of the season, I loved her), and I went from hating Lionel to quite enjoying him. Last season ended on a fantastic cliffhanger: Finch had been kidnapped (by Amy Acker’s—LOVE her!—scary psycho character, Root, Finch’s hacker nemesis), and Reese had communicated with someone behind “the Machine.” I can’t wait to see how it plays out for Reese to find him!

On tonight’s episode, “The Contingency,” with Finch missing—kidnapped by his hacker nemesis, Root, in last season’s finale cliffhanger—Reese enlists Detectives Carter and Fusco to get his friend back.

Don’t miss it tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Person of Interest @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Last Resort, Up All Night, Two and a Half Men (It’s like a train wreck I can’t look away from!), Elementary, & Prank My Mom.

Megan’s Choice

Grey’s Anatomy is known for its insane season finales and cliffhangers—last season was no exception. We watched a plane holding Meredith, Cristina, Lexie, Mark, Arizona, and Derek crash, and then we all took a ride on the Shonda Rhimes emotional express. Lexie died while holding Mark’s hand, professing their love for each other, and I bawled. Mark is still not in the clear yet, and everyone else is doing pretty poorly, too. Back at the hospital, Owen fired Teddy so she’d take the position at MEDCOM, which she originally turned down because she didn’t want to leave Owen when he has been so torn up. Bailey also proposed to Ben and wanted him to rethink leaving for a new job. We were left wondering who will live and who will die—and in the Seattle Grace world, no one is safe.

In the season premiere, “Going, Going, Gone,” the doctors try to deal with the fallout from the plane crash, which includes adjusting to changes and moving on from loss.

To see who survives and who we are going to mourn, tune in to ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grey’s Anatomy @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Person of Interest, Elementary, Last Resort, Scandal, The X Factor, and Glee.

JJ’s Choice

My favorite nerds are back on The Big Bang Theory—But without any Emmys. Weird. Since the show introduced Bernadette and Amy, the show especially upped the ante and is constantly rising on my list of favorite comedies. Last season ended with Wolowitz in space after getting married to Bernadette, Amy and Sheldon accepting they are boyfriend and girlfriend, and Penny and Leonard have found each other again. Tonight will be the sixth season premiere, and we’re getting a seventh season, as well.

On tonight’s episode, “The Date Night Variable,” Wolowitz is caught in an argument between Bernadette and his mother while he’s in space, and Raj must face being alone.

Laugh along with me at 8/7c on CBS. Learn where to find episodes online of The Big Bang Theory @ Clicker.

Tonight. I’ll also be watching The X Factor, Two and a Half Men, Up All Night, Glee (yes, I quit during season 3, but this season has been cool so far), Project Runway, & Parks and Recreation.
