If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/30/12

Yay! It’s a new week on the crazy train that is fall TV. We get a bit of a break mid-week because of the political debate, but not much of one. That’s ok, though… I’m loving all the great episodes so far! Tonight is a really busy night of premieres plus lots of other great new episodes, so check out what the four of us think you should be watching.

Last season’s finale of The Mentalist was suspenseful & shocking from beginning to end. It started six months after Patrick Jane was dismissed from the CBI and ended with Wainwright dead and Red John once again having escaped the grasp of Jane & the CBI, with the addition of the FBI this time around. Obviously, Jane has to stay with the CBI, but how has his time away changed him? Tonight’s season premiere should go a long way to answering that…I hope. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “The Crimson Ticket,” while Jane tries to decipher Lorelei’s connection to Red John, the CBI team is forced to partner with the FBI to solve the murder of a hotel employee. Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) returns as Lorelei Martins, Polly Walker (Rome) guest stars as Senior FBI Agent Alexa Schultz, and Ivan Sergei (Gravity) guest stars as FBI Agent Gabe Mancini.

Don’t miss it tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mentalist @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, Cupcake Wars, The Great Food Truck Race, & Copper.

Last season, Once Upon a Time took audiences by surprise when it premiered and pulled us down the rabbit hole into a world of fairytales, villains, princesses, and heroes. I love how it’s not Prince Charming who is the main hero in this series, but the girls who have been saving the day. In the finale, when Henry died, my heart shattered, but when Emma kissed him and told him she loved him, she broke the curse—after all, there is no truer love than the love of a mother. I’m looking forward to seeing how the show manages the whole curse issue without letting viewers down by just leaping back in time or some other lazy story like that.

On tonight’s premiere, “Broken,” the fairytale characters begin to remember their past lives, yet they remain in the present, and magic enters the town thanks to Mr. Gold. Meanwhile, in the fairytale world, Prince Phillip awakens a beauty named Aurora.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Amazing Race, 666 Park Avenue, Homeland, and The Mentalist.

Tonight is an insane night of TV with FOX, CBS, ABC, and Showtime all airing a full-lineup of premieres! However, out of these 12 shows, the one I’m looking forward to the most is Dexter. Last season, Deb decided she was going to tell Dexter that she had romantic feelings towards him. However, I suspect that may be put on hold after the finale’s shocking cliffhanger, where Deb walked in on one of Dexter’s kills. I doubt Dexter will be able to explain it away as self-defense, as the victim was plastic-wrapped to an altar! I can’t wait to see how it all plays out between Deb and Dexter and how this changes things. Does she know the extent of his murders? Can Dexter stop his killing? Will Deb become an accomplice and help him cover up future murders, or will she turn him in?

Tonight’s episode, “Are You…?” picks up with Debra, having caught her brother in the act of murder, taking a stab at covering up their involvement in the crime. Meanwhile, LaGuerta considers reopening the Bay Harbor Butcher case when new evidence resurfaces.

Don’t miss the drama tonight on Showtime at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Dexter @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, The Good Wife, The Mentalist, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, 666 Park Avenue, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, American Dad, Call the Midwife, The Great Food Truck Race, and Homeland.

JJ’s Choice

I’m overjoyed that ABC is starting it’s new Sunday lineup. I’m hoping Revenge and Once Upon a Time prove compatible and find some solid ratings. I only caught up on Revenge over the summer, and I really love it. Emily VanCamp is a very solid lead, and the premise is good.

Last season, we met Emily Thorne (born as Amanda Clarke) moving into the Hamptons and buying her old dad’s house. She moved there to exact revenge on everyone responsible for her father getting framed for a terrorist attack, the main party being the Grayson family, her next door neighbors. Emily managed to destroy some people (Lydia, Mason Treadwell, and Senator Kingsley), but failed at destroying the Grayson family. During the final episode of the season, Emily learned that her mother is actually still alive, Victoria Grayson and Lydia were killed in a plane crash, and Charlotte Grayson overdosed.

On tonight’s episode, “Destiny,” in the wake of everything that’s happened, Emily must decide what her next move will be. She struggles to heep her heart and her emotions in check and not allow them to interfere with her quest to avenge her father’s death.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching Once Upon a Time.
