If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/9/12

Tuesday already? Last time I looked, it was the weekend! I’m not sure if it’s the shorter days or the excellent television, but this week is already flying by. Tonight’s no exception for amazing new episodes of our favorite shows, so let’s see what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

Go On is by far my favorite comedy of the new season, and I’m as surprised as most of you. Matthew Perry is tremendous in this role, and his timing is impeccable. At first, I was hesitant because the premise behind the comedy about a guy healing from the death of his wife seemed completely loco, but it works so incredibly well, I don’t know why I was ever worried. Last week, we watched the group band around Lauren to help her pass her real estate license test, while Ryan struggled with letting go of Janie while he kept seeing her ghost everywhere.

On tonight’s episode, “Big League Chew,” grieving causes Ryan to become a compulsive eater, triggering an intervention from the group. Meanwhile, Ryan offers romantic advice to Lauren, and Ryan tries to pull Danny out of his sweeping fantasy world.

To see how offside we go this week, tune in to NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Go On @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, NCIS: LA, New Girl, The Voice, The New Normal, The Mindy Project, Ben and Kate, Hart of Dixie, and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog.

I absolutely love the new FOX comedy, Ben and Kate, so I was thrilled when they gave it a full-season order. It’s so sweet and adorable, and both the leads are delightful, and the little girl? Cute as a freakin button. Last week was so funny when Kate freaked out because she’s been lying to her daughter’s school about where they live in order for her daughter to attend the same school Kate herself (& her brother) did. The stories ranged from her wanting to break into the school to erase a message Ben left, giving the principal the truth, and all of them infiltrating Tommy’s parents’ house, which is the address Kate had been using as hers, in order to host an impromptu party with all the school officials. In the end, it worked out and the principal gave them an exception to let Maddie into the school legally.

On tonight’s episode, “The Fox Hunt,” Ben and Kate discover an unopened envelope from 15 years ago that contains the yearly scavenger hunt their dad used to organize for them when they were kids. The find prompts them to complete the unfinished hunt, but raises old issues of sibling rivalry. Meanwhile, the scavenger hunt takes an unexpected detour for Kate when BJ enlists her to help get belongings back from an old fling.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing Dancing with the Stars, NCIS, Raising Hope, 19 Kids & Counting, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog, NCIS: LA, Chef Race: U.K. vs U.S., Chopped, Prank My Mom, Sons of Anarchy, & Vegas.

I was so happy to see FOX’s announcement yesterday that it had given full-season orders to both Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project. I thought The Mindy Project got even better with the second episode. Last week, Mindy narrated her morning subway commute with Danny romcom-style. Then she had a meet-cute with a guy (Seth Myers) at the bookstore, and the two went out (and out, and out) for fro-yo and a pretzel. Back at work, Mindy was put in charge of hiring the new nurse for the practice, ultimately hiring the ex-con who ran to her rescue after she was punched in the face.

I find this show so fun and hilarious. Mindy is delightful, and I love her obsession with all the romcom tropes and how she manages to work them into her own life and situations. I also really enjoy the banter and chemistry between Mindy and Danny, and I find it amusing that their relationship in itself is romcom-worthy but they don’t even realize it.

In tonight’s episode, “In the Club,” Shauna gets the staff into a hip nightclub, where Mindy connects with a lawyer for the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, Jeremy has his eye on a woman who happens to be engaged; and Morgan finds out how much money a bathroom attendant can make. NBA basketball player Amar’e Stoudemire guest stars.

Laugh along with me tonight on FOX at 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mindy Project @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Voice, Go On, The New Normal, Parenthood, Raising Hope, Ben and Kate, New Girl, Hart of Dixie, Sons of Anarchy, Flipping Out, Face Off, Hot Set, and Chef Race.

Another Tuesday, another New Girl. I’m glad the show is doing so well in the ratings, especially for a show in its second season. And the writing is solid, as well, although I would like to see some more Cece. Last week’s scene with Nick and Jess in the restaurant with the wine was all kinds of hilarious!

On tonight’s episode, “Neighbors,” a group of twenty-something neighbors move in across the hall, and Jess and Schmidt intend to befriend them, while Nick pulls pranks on Schmidt to make him think he’s getting old.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog, Go On, and The Mindy Project.
